Chapter 94 Clearing out the entire showroom in a matter of seconds

With time still ticking on her thirty-minute countdown, Joanna descended like a shadow. Dropping down to the second floor, she kept the momentum going, ready to swallow every valuable resource the middle tier had left to offer.

The second floor was a commercial goldmine, densely packed with shoe stores, trendy clothing boutiques. athletic sportswear outlets, cosmetic counters, body care shops, and upscale nail salons. To an ordinary survivor, it would take days of backbreaking labor to move even a fraction of this inventory. To Joanna it was just a matter of minutes.

She moved through the corridor like a devastating ghost. In the shoe stores, rows of durable hiking boots, athletic sneakers, and heavy-duty footwear vanished into her subspace alongside thousands of boxed pairs from the back stockrooms. She didn’t leave a single pair behind.

Moving along the hexagonal curve, she hit the cosmetics and body care shops next. Countless bars of soap, bottles of antiseptic lotions, medical-grade creams, and hygiene products disappeared in a flash. In a survival situation, these weren’t just luxuries-they were valuable trade commodities and essential medical supplies. She even cleared out the nail salons, absorbing entire racks of specialized tools, sanitizing equipment, and chemical supplies that could be repurposed later.

The athletic and sportswear outlets were hollowed out next, providing her inventory with a massive influx of weather-resistant tactical clothing, thermal gear, and lightweight running apparel. She moved with practiced, mechanical rhythm: break the barrier, activate the space, and leave nothing but dust and empty hangers behind.

In exactly ten minutes, the second floor was completely bone-clean.

With her thirty-minute timer rapidly drawing to a close, Joanna turned her gaze toward the center of the hexagon. The hollow, echoing silence of the massive mall was starting to feel heavy, and it was time to regroup.

Joanna lightly jogged downstairs, her boots squeaking softly against the tile as she descended into the cavernous center of the mall where the food court lay in shadow. The massive open space was dead silent. Walking over to the abandoned fast-food stalls, she approached a row of commercial beverage coolers. With a wave of her hand, she swept the entire lineup of refrigerators-packed tight with sodas, juices, and energy drinks-directly into her subspace. Before the space went completely bare, she grabbed a single bottle of chilled water, twisted the cap off, and began sipping it to quench her thirst.

With twenty minutes still remaining, she idly walked past a high-end appliance storefront. Peering through the dark glass at the rows of pristine inventory, she shrugged, stepped up, and casually kicked the glass through. It shattered with a musical crash.

Joanna walked inward and unleashed her sweeping ability, clearing out the entire showroom in a matter of

seconds. Heavy stoves, double-door refrigerators, massive flat-screen TVs, washing machines, and dryers vanished into thin air. In a post-apocalyptic world, who knew who could use this stuff? A fully operational base would eventually need infrastructure, and she was tracking down every utility possible.

Leaving the hollowed-out appliance store, she walked next door toward a sprawling Bed Mart and stopped to survey the rows of luxury mattresses.

A soft rustle of footsteps sounded from the darkness behind her. She didn’t drop her guard, but relaxing slightly as she recognized the silhouette, she turned to find Julian standing there, his flashlight beam cutting

through the gloom.

You done?” she asked, taking another sip of her water before passing it over to him.

Finished

“Yeah.” Julian replied, wiping a layer of sweat from his forehead and taking a few gulps. “The team is going upstairs right now to help bring everything down from the second store. Are you getting furniture now?” He looked past her at the pristine showroom of beds, then smiled faintly. “Let me come with you.”

Without waiting for an answer, Julian stepped forward, swung his heavy bat, and shattered the glass entrance to enter the store first, clearing a path into the showroom.

Julian chuckled, stepping over the glittering shards of glass and leading the way into the darkened showroom. His flashlight beam danced over rows of pristine, plastic-wrapped mattresses until it settled on an elevated display in the very back of the store.

“If we’re taking beds, we aren’t taking just anything,” Julian said, gesturing toward the massive, king-sized setup with an theatrical wave of his hand. “This right here is the absolute pinnacle. It’s an ultra-luxury, smart-adjusting hybrid. Literally the best bed that money can buy. Before the world went sideways, this thing cost more than a decent used car.”

Joanna eyebrows shot up in amusement. “A car? For a place to sleep?”

“Don’t knock it until you try it,” Julian insisted, casually tossing his baseball bat onto a nearby armchair. He hopped up onto the high mattress, stretching his arms out and sighing contentedly as the material perfectly contoured to his weight. “Come on. Test the merchandise.”
