Chapter 216 Danger

At the same mome. Steven and the others, who had been resting where they were, heard the distant howl.
Everyone froze.
“It’s a wolf howl!”
Olivia suddenly cried out, “A huge number of beasts are charging toward us! Danger! The threat assessment is extremely high!
“There are plenty of level 2 and level 3 beasts, plus a massive number of level Is!”
Everyone’s expressions changed instantly.
“What’s going on? Have the beasts targeted us?”
Alan barked, “Move! Fall back!”

Instantly, the entire team sprang into action.
“No good! They’re surrounding us from every direction! Unless we take to the air!”
But flying wasn’t a real option. They’d become easy targets for the predatory birds circling overhead. Their combat effectiveness would drop significantly in the sky, and their maneuverability was nowhere near that of those aerial hunters. If their armored car was damaged, they might lose their last avenue of retreat.
Taking to the air was too risky.
Alan shouted, “Find the weakest point in their formation and break through!”
By now, he had already sensed that something wasn’t right.
They had been extremely cautious. Yet on the very first day, they had somehow attracted a beast swarm of this scale.
Something about that didn’t feel right.
Alan roared, “Olivia! Estimate their numbers!”
While sprinting, Olivia answered, “No fewer than 500! More than half of them are level 2 or higher!”
Everyone’s faces turned pale.
How could so many level 2 beasts be gathered in one place?
A moment later, Olivia reported, “The western side has the fewest beasts!”
Everyone immediately changed direction.
A terrible feeling settled in Steven’s chest.

Something about that sound earlier wasn’t right. It hadn’t sounded like a wolf howl at all.
The 12 of them raced westward at full speed.
Alan shouted, “Maintain formation! Protect Darlene and Qlivia!
“Blooddrinkers! Rearguards! Prepare for combat!”
“Got it!”
Everyone’s expression hardened.
Dragging his spear behind him, Steven felt a chill creep through his body.
Operation Moonfall was definitely not going to be as simple as it seemed.
Something was wrong with that wolf’s howl just now!
Olivia’s voice rang out again.
“It’s Bloodmoon Demon Wolves! Mid–level beasts!”
Everyone was shaken.
None of them had expected to run into such a troublesome predator.
Now, they were truly in danger.
Most of the beasts encountered within city limits were low–level beasts.
They were generally mutated versions of small reptiles and similar animals.
But those giant wolf beasts in front of them were more powerful and deadly!
And at last, Steven understood.
