There wasn’t a single scar on his face yet.

Steven couldn’t help but think back to his previous life. Back then, Zac had charged straight into the beast tide to protect him without a second thought.
Steven had watched with his own eyes as the man disappeared into the endless sea of monsters.
That feeling of helplessness and sorrow…
It was impossible to put into words.
He had never imagined that he would get the chance to see this loudmouthed, bragging old friend again in this lifetime.
A faint smile appeared on Steven’s face.
Being able to meet him again felt good. That was enough.
Zac, if you had never met me in that life, would you have survived that beast tide?
Steven suddenly wanted to say a few words to him. Long time no see, buddy.
Inside the alley, three Three-Sigil Awakened fighters were attacking Zac together.
At this point in his life, Zac was only a Three-Sigil Divine Adept himself.
Even 20 years later, he would still only be a Three-Sigil Awakened.
His Sigil was only B-rank, and that was more or less the limit of his potential.
Of course, he was only level 23 right now and still lacked experience in real combat.
In the corner of the alley sat a young woman, slumped against the wall in a drunken haze.
She looked to be in her early 20s.
Zac himself had only just turned 30.
He was still young, hot-blooded, and reckless.
Even while fighting three opponents alone, he showed no fear.

Zac’s face twisted with fury.
“You animals better get out of here! I already called the cops!”

The three men across from him wore the same vicious expressions, their faces flushed with alcohol.
“Mind your own business! You ruined our fun! You’re asking for trouble!”
The three attacked together without holding back.
Zac was forced backward again and again.
Even after using the power of his Sigil, it wasn’t enough. One man against three was simply impossible.
One of them sneered. “Who do you think you are, sticking your nose into our business? You completely ruined my night, you piece of trash.”
Zac spat a mouthful of blood onto the ground and glared at them. “You sick bastards! You were going to rape her right out here in public! People like you deserve to die!”
The three men grinned ruthlessly. “Not if you’re dead first. No one would find out.”
Their eyes filled with killing intent. Things had already gone this far. Why not go all the way and get rid of this guy?
Outside the alley, Steven and Bianca both frowned.
Without realizing it, Bianca tightened her grip on Steven’s hand.
Originally, Steven had planned to stay away from Zac in this life.
But some things seemed impossible to avoid.
He knew Zac wouldn’t die tonight. Still, he couldn’t just stand there and watch him get hurt.
Steven looked toward the drunk young woman slumped in the corner. She looked familiar.
Then it hit him. She was the girl in the old photograph Zac had carried in his previous life.
The woman he had lost.
Steven froze. Is this the night they first met?
