Blow after blow crashed down on her opponent, each strike carrying tremendous force, until the young man found himself struggling to keep pace at all.
It didn’t take long before he sensed something was wrong.
Several times now, she’d clearly had the opening to land a real hit on him, and every single time, she’d held back.
That realization sent a wave of humiliated fury crashing through him.
What am I, some kind of joke?
She was stalling for time again, just like her teammate before her!
He’d had enough. This was absolutely unbearable.
Was he really being treated this way, like both these Three-Sigil fighters saw him as someone they could beat without even trying?
Only he understood exactly how crushing that feeling was.
He knew perfectly well that Fiona was stalling too, and yet he still couldn’t find a way to beat
her.
Fury and shame burned through him in equal measure.
Before long, more and more people in the stands started catching on to what Fiona was actually doing.
There really wasn’t much to say about it at this point.
A quiet, disbelieving laughter rippled through the crowd.
What had that poor kid done to deserve being treated like a punching bag by two different women in a row?
The young man had no way to voice his frustration, and honestly, his luck couldn’t have been

He roared, “You’ve gone too far!”
He decided that even if he couldn’t beat her outright, he refused to let her keep stalling any

longer, or he’d become the laughingstock of all Orroux Academy.
He roared again, and his third Divine Sigil surged to life, falling back on the same tactic he’d used before.
He charged straight at Fiona.
That massive war hammer began condensing in his grip once more.
The moment he closed within striking range, he bellowed out, “Earthbound Cage!”
Interlocking pillars of stone shot up from the ground, trapping Fiona in their grip.
He swung the hammer down with everything he had.
His face twisted with savage determination. There was no way she could shatter his Three-Sigil pattern power a second time.
The instant he moved, Fiona moved as well.
Her third Divine Sigil erupted to life.
Frost condensed around her, thickening the very air until it felt heavy and dense.
A pale blue, frigid light blazed to life in her eyes.
Frostdragon Thousand-Blade Cleave!
The straight-bladed saber in her hand crystallized into a colossal weapon of solid ice, stretching over thirty feet long.
The saber gave a sudden jolt, and then she shattered the stone pillars trapping her into fragments.
Her gaze remained cold and distant as she swung that massive frost blade directly into the incoming hammer.
At the same time, a storm of icy blades erupted from her body, tearing through the air straight toward the young man without any restraint.
The frost blade and the stone hammer collided with tremendous force.
The impact rang out like thunder across the arena.
Shards of ice and clouds of shattered stone burst into the air.
The collision shook the entire stadium.

Both the hammer and the blade dissolved into nothing in the aftermath.
That clash alone had been genuinely impressive.
