Rewriting Fate with My Apex War Goddess (by Ezekiel Valor) novel Chapter 588

Chapter 588 Infection

“I called it infection.

“At the Awakened Tournament today, the ones he infected…”

Steven laid out the whole of the Griffin situation, more or less.

Alan grew more and more shaken as he listened.

There was actually something like this going on!?

And the crucial part was, the Military Command hadn’t caught the faintest whiff of it!

He shot Steven a long, deep look. Without Steven, there was no telling how long they’d all have been kept in the dark.

He truly was grateful to have Steven.

With his appearance, so many of their problems had been solved, and their plan pushed forward no telling how many steps!

They’d reached the point where they could nearly close the net!

After a long stretch of thought, Alan had more or less pieced it together.

“So, as things stand, this Griffin infecting so many people—in all likelihood, he means to control those people down the line.”

Steven nodded. “Very likely. That’s the direction I’ve been thinking too. The ones he’s infected are all prodigies from every quarter, people bound to hold high positions someday.

“And then there’s this stone egg. The power inside it and the power inside Griffin’s body differ only in beast attribute-at their core, they should be the same kind of power.

“They may be thinking of planting the power inside it into someone else’s hands, and using that to control other people.”

Alan nodded gravely.

He glanced at Steven and asked, “Do you have a way to deal with this kind of power?”

Steven mulled it over a moment. “Griffin tried to infect me, but the power he sent into my body got absorbed by me and evolved my level instead.

“I can definitely handle it, but I don’t know if I can handle the power in someone else’s body-

not unless I get to test it once. And I’m afraid of tipping our hand.

“There’s no telling whether this Griffin has some kind of sense-link to that power.

“I didn’t dare let Bianca or Fiona take that risk at the time either.”

Alan nodded, exceptionally grave.

“The God Eaters’ methods are far thornier than we imagined.”

Steven said, “I only realized it today, after watching Griffin infect others—they’re basically trying to win this war by striking at Draconia’s very roots.

“The power of the beasts is just too uncanny-I never dreamed it could work like this.”

Alan nodded, his gaze falling to the stone egg in Steven’s hand.

“This thing-can you handle it… or absorb it?”

Steven hesitated a moment, then said, “By my estimate, I should be able to absorb it, and it’d even speed up my leveling. So, I’d like you to hold off for now on letting the higher-ups behind you know about this.

“After all, handing it to them wouldn’t turn up much in the way of research…”

Steven saying this was, naturally, out of self-interest.

However much they gave him, it couldn’t compare to evolving his beast-type Divine Sigils.

Alan was quiet for a while, then said, “Don’t worry about this. Handle the thing yourself—that’s fine. Your affairs, I’m the only one who knows. I’ve never told a soul.

“Leave it to me to manage.”
