Chapter 696 Baiting the Hidden Enemy

claw marks gave off a terrifying force. They even pulled divine essence from the air around them.

It felt as if they could tear through every defense Steven had.

This was the Thousand Shadows‘ ultimate attack.

In the past, he had never needed to go this far against a Divine General.

But somehow, he had run into a group of monsters.

First, a Divine General defeated him. Then a Divine Knight did the same.

It was enough to drive him crazy.

Why did everyone have to pick on me?

Let me win at least once.

Otherwise, the higher–ups would decide he was useless. Once that happened, they would have no reason to keep him around.

The Thousand Shadows roared.

“Die!”

The two claw marks ripped through the air.

Even the space around them seemed to twist.

This attack held every bit of power he had left.

Steven sensed the danger immediately.

So what? I’m not afraid of you. I have to win this fight.

Steven roared inwardly and activated his fifth Divine Sigil.

Crimson energy poured from his body.

Just before the terrifying claws struck him, the crimson energy gathered and formed a suit of battle armor.

The Thousand Shadows was thrilled.

His attack had landed.

I’m going to win!

“Die!”

His face twisted with rage. Out of everyone here, Steven was the one he wanted dead the most.

But a second later, he froze.

yer of armor had appeared over Steven’s chest. It looked almost exactly like Sigil Armor!

His claws punched through the crimson armor.

But by the time they reached Steven’s body, almost all their power was gone.

They only tore a shallow wound into his flesh. They hadn’t ripped him apart.

The Thousand Shadows screamed inwardly.

Impossible! How can he have Sigil Armor?!

Steven gave him no time to recover from the shock.

The God–Slaying Spear and the crimson Dragon Spear were already there.

Killing intent erupted from Steven.

A terrifying wave of destructive energy punched through the Thousand Shadows‘ chest and pierced his heart.

Steven clearly saw the Thousand Shadows‘ crimson wolf eyes fill with blood.

The terrible pain drove him wild.

He let out a piercing scream.

Steven snorted coldly.

With a burst of strength, he slammed the Thousand Shadows into the ground.

Boom!

Huge cracks spread across the earth.

Dust and debris exploded into the air.

Just like that, Steven had pinned down a Six–Sigil Divine King–or, more accurately, a level 6 beast.

The Thousand Shadows had fused with a werewolf beast core, giving him incredible vitality.

Even with his heart pierced, he showed no sign of dying.

He kept struggling wildly.

Blood poured from his mouth.

Steven’s eyes turned cold.

“Not getting away this time.”

He gathered all his strength and grabbed one of the Thousand Shadows‘ arms.

Everyone watched.

Ri

“Arghhh!”

A terrible howl rang out.

Steven tore the werewolf’s arm away with brutal force.

Blood sprayed through the air.

The pain nearly drove the Thousand Shadows insane.

“Ahhh! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!”

Everyone watching from inside the Eightfold Domain fell silent.

Now that was brutal.

Steven kept the spear pressed against him and planted one foot on his head.

Meanwhile, the wound on Steven’s chest was already healing. New flesh grew over it fast enough to see.

His expression remained cold.

“You escaped from me twice. Did you really think I’d let it happen a third time?”

“Get off me!” the Thousand Shadows roared.

He tried to unleash his power and blast Steven away.

Steven snorted.

Then he grabbed the Thousand Shadows‘ other arm.

For the first time, fear appeared in the Thousand Shadows‘ eyes.

His healing ability was incredible, but it couldn’t regrow a missing limb.

“No!” he screamed, his crimson eyes wide.

Steven looked even more terrifying than the werewolf beneath him.

His face hardened.

Then his arm exploded with strength.

Rip!

Blood sprayed once again.

A horrible scream echoed across the sky.
