As Su Mengyao’s voice came through the phone, Yun Zijin watched the scenery scrolling past outside, for once at a loss for how to explain.

After a moment of silence to gather her thoughts, Yun Zijin finally spoke.

"What if I told you that while you all were sleeping, I popped over to the police station for a quick visit? Would you believe me?"

Having said her piece, Yun Zijin sat up a little straighter, eagerly awaiting Su Mengyao’s response.

"What? What did you just say?"

Su Mengyao thought she must be hearing things. ’The police station?’ she wondered. ’What would she be doing at the police station?’

"I said, I took a little trip to the police station. I’m on my way back now."

Then, Yun Zijin simply waited for Su Mengyao’s reaction.

The other end of the line was silent for a long moment before a question finally came through: "What happened?"

Even without seeing her, Yun Zijin could perfectly picture Su Mengyao’s expression: completely and utterly dumbfounded.

"I’ll tell you the details when I get back. I’m still on the road, but I’m not far. I’ll be there soon."
