Chapter 180 Poison And Betrayal
Chapter 180 Poison And Betrayal
Natalie’s POV
Baron and I sat close, the heat from his body a grounding presence.
Whoever had sent the beggar to Sharon’s had done us a favor.
Whether it was a shadow from Baron’s past or a silent ally from the North, they had served their purpose.
I leaned back against the plush leather headrest, closing my eyes for a brief moment.
The fatigue was starting to seep into my bones, a dull ache that made my limbs feel heavy.

“Let’s just go home and rest,” I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper. “This afternoon… I still want to take the kids back to a mall. Not that one, obviously. I haven’t given them their proper gifts yet.”
Just thinking about the empty–handed return made my heart ache with a fresh wave of guilt.
If not for running into Quincy at the mall, I would have already been home, sitting on the carpet and watching Susie twirl in that star–embroidered dress.
At the mention of the mall, I felt Baron shift beside me.
A low, dark chuckle vibrated in his chest.
“Do you know how Quincy is doing now?” he asked.
1 hadn’t given much thought to Quincy since the ambulance sped away.
In my mind, she was a figure from a past life.
But seeing the wicked, knowing look on Baron’s face, my curiosity was piqued.
He never brought up a topic unless the punchline was devastating.
“How is she?” I asked, turning my head to look at him. “She must have been poisoned for sure… I saw the color si her blood. The question is whether she’s awake now. If she has woken up and realizes that her ‘precious‘ Sharon tried to it her… I wonder what she’ll think. After all that effort to burn my photos and erase my existence, she finds out she was raising her killer.”
I paused, a cold, ironic smile touching my lips. “And won’t the pack enforcers be after Sharon for that, too?”
The thought made me laugh, a short, sharp sound.
Sharon seemed to be quite busy these days.
Between being caught with a beggar, being rejected by Jensen, and now being investigated for poisoning her mother, her schedule was finally as full as her ego.
And as if to prove my point, the distant wail of pack enforcers sirens drifted through the air
Baron and I exchanged a glance.

The irony was so thick it was almost tangible.
We both burst into laughter
“Come on, let’s go home,” Baron said, his eyes softening as he looked at me. “Those two little rascals must be giving Yvonne massive headache by now. I can feel the chaos from here.
Baron knew his kids well.
I agreed.
Other people’s problems weren’t worth nearly as much as my own children,
At that moment, I was just a mother who was impatient to hold her babies again,
“Yes,” I said firmly. “Home.”
Baron tapped the glass partition and called the driver back into the front seat.

His pitiful, dramatic begging made me laugh despite myself.
I let go of his waist, intending to pull away, only to have my hand caught mid–air.
