Chapter 179 The Third Player
Baron’s POV
I sat back against the leather, my heart still hammering against my ribs.
Natalie was flushed, her lips slightly swollen from my kiss, and her silver hair was a beautiful mess across her shoulders.
Watching her hands tremble slightly as she smoothed her clothes was almost enough to make me pull her back into my arms.
I was far from satisfied.
Not even close.
The heat between us hadn’t settled.
I could still taste her.
Still feel the way she had leaned into me like she belonged there.

And that made the interruption worse.
But the noise, unfortunately, had a way of intruding.
My phone, tossed carelessly on the center console, began to vibrate with a sharp, insistent buzz.
I ignored it for three rings, my gaze fixed on the curve of Natalie’s neck.
She glared at me as she quickly adjusted her blazer, her fingers flying over the buttons.
The screen lit up again.
Whoever it was… either very brave, or very stupid.
Raze stirred, displeased.
A low, predatory rumble pressed against my ribs… urging me to ignore the call and return to what mattered.
‘Mate,‘ Raze growled in my head.
I let it ring once more… just to make a point.
On the fourth ring, I let out a low, irritated growl and snatched the device up.
I was annoyed at the interruption, ready to snap the neck of whoever was calling, but i saw the caller ID.
It was one of my specialists still stationed inside the cafe.
rked, my voice thick with Raze.
resting the device on my knee so Natalie could hear
The deserved to know.
Chapter 179 The Third Player
My subordinate’s voice came through, crisp and hurried, filtered through the car.
He described Jensen’s breakdown, the barista’s confession, and the.chaotic moment Sharon tried to flee.
But then, his tone shifted to something else.

“Alpha Baron, the beggar… When the Alpha tried to walk away, the man called him back. He claimed Sharon was the one who recruited him personally. He showed the Pack Enforcemtent a WhatsApp transfer record of one thousand dollars, sent directly from her private line to his digital wallet.”
Natalie, who had been busy tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, froze.
She blinked, her emerald eyes wide with a genuine, sharp surprise.
She turned to me, her voice a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
hat’s with the beggar, Baron? Was that your doing? The transfer record… that’s a bit theatrical, even for you.”
my head slowly, my own mind already beginning to sift through the data.
back.
I said, my voice dropping into the low register. “I did send my men to fetch a beggar, I wanted the visuals to be as jarring sible for the cameras. But I never told that man to bite back at Sharon. My instructions were for him to play the role of a ged participant.”
aused, a cold calculation settling over me.
“And Sharon? She’s not worth a thousand dollars to me, Natalie../If I wanted Sharon ruined, I wouldn’t pay for it… I would simply let it happen.I would simply let it happen..”
Even I was puzzled.
Natalie looked even more confused.
She leaned forward, her brow furrowing in that way she did whenever she was confused.
“That beggar’s testimony couldn’t have been Sharon’s doing,” she murmured, more to herself than to me.

“She’s a snake, but she’s a careful one. She would never leave such an obvious, glowing trail like a direct transfer record from her own phone. She knows Jensen monitors the accounts.”
She was right.
Sending a traceable payment to a beggar she was planning to frame me with would be an amateur mistake, and Sharon was expert in deception.
But if it wasn’t Sharon…
And it wasn’t me…
anymore.

frowned, the gloom returning to my expression.
My hand reached out instinctively, my thumb tracing the line of Natalie’s jaw as if to ground her.

“Could it be your family?” I asked. “Your brother Waylon is protective. Perhaps he felt my plan was too ‘soft‘ and decided to add to the plan.”
Natalie shook her head with absolute certainty.
“No. Waylon is many things, but he wouldn’t act without coordinating with me first. And if it were from them, Chris would have told me the moment we stepped into the car. He’s loyal to the family, but he’s bound to me now.”
The question gnawed at the back of my mind.
