Hansel’s POV

The drive out to the outskirts of the pack was the quietest thirty minutes I had experienced in five years.
Jensen had specifically requested the armored SUV designed for high–profile transport.
It felt less like a luxury ride and more like a mobile containment unit.
I kept my eyes fixed on the road, my hands gripping the steering wheel until the leather groaned.
Behind me, separated by a thick pane of privacy glass that I had kept firmly closed, sat Sharon Summers. Or, as she always insisted, the Luna of the Nightfang.
The term felt like ash in my mouth.
I had just spent the better part of the afternoon at the Pack Enforcement station, watching the two packs manipulate the truth into something different.
We had produced the disgruntled servant.
We had provided the forged receipts.
We had created a narrative that Sharon was a victim of a deep–seated household conspiracy.
It was a masterclass in corruption, and it had left me feeling physically ill.
As the heavy iron gates of the secondary pack villa swung open, I eased the SUV up the long, winding driveway.
Jensen had been very clear: Sharon was not to return to the main estate.
She was to be sequestered here, away from the prying eyes of the Pack Elders and the restless Accord who were currently watching the Nightfang Pack.
The moment I brought the vehicle to a halt, the intercom buzzed.
“Hansel! Why are we stopping here? This isn’t the love Villa! Open the door!”
Her voice, even through the speakers, carried that shrill arrogance that had become the soundtrack to my nightmares.
I didn’t answer.

I climbed out of the driver’s seat, adjusted my suit jacket, and walked around to the rear door.
The moment I opened it, Sharon practically tumbled out.
She looked a mess – hair matted, clothes wrinkled, eyes wild with a mixture of panic and something else.
But the moment she saw the villa, her face twisted into a mask of pure displeasure.
“Why bring me here? I want to see Jensen! Take me to the love Villa immediately!”
I stood there, my arms crossed, watching her.
It was fascinating in a morbid way.
She had just spent hours in the station facing matricide charges, yet the second she was free, her primary concern was that the accommodations weren’t prestigious enough.
“Alpha Jensen is occupied, Sharon,” I said.
“Occupied? He should be here! He should be making sure I’m okay!” She paced the gravel, her heels crunching loudly. “I know he’s the one who sent that lawyer. I know he’s the one who cleared my name. It means he still cares. He knows I’m his savior.”
I felt a growl building in my throat, a primal reaction from my wolf that I had to fight to
suppress.
She truly believed that because Jensen had moved heaven and earth to stop a scandal that would have dethroned him, it was a gesture of love.
“Sharon, The Alpha is extremely busy,” I repeated. “He has no time to see you. And do you really not know what you’ve done? We can produce evidence to clear you in a court of the Accord, but that doesn’t mean you’re innocent. You’re not just tied to the reputation of the Nightfang… think about that.”
“You dare lecture me?” Sharon snapped, spinning around to face me. The arrogance was back in full force, fueled by the relief of her release.
“Who do you think you are? You’re just an assistant! A replaced Beta! What gives you the right to scold me?”
I had watched this woman systematically dismantle Jensen’s peace of mind for years, and I was at my breaking point.
“I am the man who has spent the last four hours watching the Accord debate removing Jensen as Alpha because of your scandal at the café.”
