Chapter 230 Blood And Candy

Baron’s POV

I stood in the center of the van, my eyes fixed on the blank monitors, my wolf, Raze, pacing so violently in my mind that my own fingernails were digging crescents into my palms.

Mr. Baron, we’ve picked up Susie’s tracker again!

The shout from my technician shattered the silence.

I snatched the laptop, my eyes narrowing as I tracked the blinking crimson pulse on the digital map.

They were moving away from the pack, heading deep into the Sun Pack.

My phone chimed.

I looked down.

An unfamiliar number.

My thumb hovered over the screen.

Instinct told me this wasn’t a ransom call.

I swiped to answer, but I didn’t speak.

I simply listened.

Immediately, the scratchy, muffled voices of two men spilled through the speaker.

Terry made too big a messequipment to collapsebuy a little time.

My jaw locked so tightly the bone ached.

The amusement park.

It hadn’t been an accidentI knew it wasn’t but this was a confirmation.

It was a distraction a ploy to buy a few minutes of chaos so they could snatch my blood.

Raze growled in anger, turning my eyes into a lethal, glowing gold.

I could see my eyes through the reflection from the screen.

My men stood around me, their faces grim, their own inner wolves sensing the shift in the atmosphere.

Alpha Baron, one of my guards whispered, his voice tight. That amusement park collapse it was aimed at you from the start.” Send our people to the docks,I commanded, my voice in a low register.

And notify the Stone pack’s hunters. I don’t care what ports they think are open. No matter what, we find this Terry tonight. I want him breathing when I arrive.

Yes, Sir.

The men rushed to carry out the order, their scèritstrailing behind them.

I stared back at the blinking red dot.

It had stopped moving.

My children were stationary.

Hold on,I whispered. Daddy’s coming.

Sean’s POV

My hands were free now, the ropes lying like dead snakes on the floor.

Beside me, Susie was breathing softly, her eyes wide and alert.

I reached into my pocket.

My fingers brushed against the crinkly plastic wrapper of a lollipop.

I pulled it out slowly, the sound of the plastic muffled by the roar of the engine.

Susie looked at me, her lips curving into a cold little smile that looked exactly like Mom’s when she was about to win an argumen

I saw her eyes drop to the candy.

She knew what I had inside

I twisted the plastic candy stick.

There was a faint click, and a fine silver needle slid out from the hollow center.

Susie’s eyes lit up at once as she reached out, her fingers brushing against a heavy hammer that had been rolling around in the back of the van.

I pressed a finger to my lips, giving her a stern look.

Don’t act rashly.I whispered.

She nodded quickly, becoming obedient.

I had originally planned to wait until we reached the factory.

I wanted to see who was waiting for us.

I wanted to see Terry.

But then I looked at my own thin arms and Susie’s, I realized how small we were.

Forget it.

I’m just a kid.

Dad Will take care of handling the villains.

I shot Susie a look. Ready?

She gripped the hammer, her small knuckles turning white.

I raised three fingers.

The van swerved onto a dirt path.

I folded one finger down.

Two.

The driver chuckled at a joke Jace made.

They had no idea.

folded the second finger.

One.

+20 Free Coin

When the last finger curled into my palm, I sprang.

I used the momentum of the van’s bounce to launch myself over the gap between the seats.

The silver needle in my hand drove straight and true into the soft skip of Jace’s neck, just below the jawline.

What the-Jace started, his hand flying up, but the poison was already working.

His eyes rolled back, his muscles locking.

At the same instant, Susie swung.

She didn’t hesitate.

She used both hands on the hammer, swinging it.

The heavy iron head smashed into the side of the driver’s skull with a sickening crack.

The driver’s head slammed against the side window, glass spider webbing under the impact.

He went limp instantly, his foot sliding off the gas.

The van lurched violently, swerving off the dirt path and toward a ditch
