Chapter 234 The Alpha’s Duality
Baron’s POV
The air in the basement was thick, a scent of rusted iron, and the metallic tang of fresh blood.
It was a scent I was intimately familiar with.

On the chair in the center of the room, the man one of the low–level facilitators who had helped Jace vanish, slumped forward, his breathing ragged.
He was broken, though he hadn’t realized it yet.
The man’s wrists were bound tightly to the steel arms of the chair, the restraints cutting angry red grooves into his skin.
Sweat dripped from his jaw in uneven drops, hitting the concrete floor.
“You think staying silent will save you?” I asked calmly.
The prisoner shook violently. “I already told you everything I know!”
“No.” I stepped closer, my boots scraping against the floor. “You told me enough to keep yourself breathing for another ten minutes.”
A tray of metal tools rested beside me beneath the fluorescent light.
The silver instruments gleamed coldly.
One of the guards shifted uneasily near the wall.
Raze was restless beneath my skin.
My children had been shoved into a filthy van like prey.
The thought alone made violence feel reasonable.
I crouched in front of the prisoner slowly, lowering myself until we were eye level.

“You moved through the docks,” I said quietly. “You arranged burner phones. Safehouses. Vehicles. Routes out of the pack.”
The man trembled harder.
“I–I didn’t harm the kids!”
“But you took them from my villa.”
My voice remained level, which only made the terror in his eyes worsen.
“I’m going to ask one final time,” I continued. “Who is the boss?”
The prisoner’s lips parted soundlessly.
Then my phone vibrated.

I stepped back from the shadow of the interrogation chair. “What happened?”
My voice was a low growl.
The room around me went deathly quiet.
My men froze in place, even the prisoner, who had been sobbing only moments before, was forcibly silenced by the sudden, terrifying shift in the atmosphere.
1 looked at my hands.
They were covered in the dark, drying stains of my work.
With a grunt of distaste, I stripped off the bloodstained surgical gloves and tossed them into a nearby trash bin.
As I brought the phone to my ear, my voice softened.
Natalie had no idea where I was.
She had no idea that ten feet away from me, a man was losing his fingernails because he had dared to touch our children.
She began to explain the files Renee had received.
As she spoke about the chat logs – those intimate, private pieces of her past that Jensen was now trying to use as a leash, I felt a different kind of rage.
“I don’t want to deal with him anymore,” Natalie said, her voice sounding exhausted but final. “It’s nauseating. Please, Baron… have a lawyer handle it. I don’t want to see another word he’s written.”
I couldn’t have been happier to hear those words.
I felt a surge of grim satisfaction that nearly made me smile in the dark.
Finally.
Jensen was digging his own grave with the very memories he thought would save him.

He was a fool.
He thought he could win her back by reminding her of the version of herself she had grown to despise.
“All right, sweetheart. Leave this to me, I murmured, leaning against the cold stone wall, away from the carnage. “I’ll take care of
I checked my watch.
It was already past nine o’clock.
I had been in this basement for six hours, and I hadn’t even noticed the sun had come up.
Natalie laughed on the other end.

I’m heading to the home studio. I need to wrap up some design work for the pack. The kids are at preschool, so I’ll pick them up this afternoon.”
