Chapter 244 Hands Off My Neck
Chapter 244 Hands Off My Neck
Sharon’s POV
I stood in the center of the hall, my fingers tracing the carvings of a mahogany side table.
I hadn’t gone upstairs yet; I wanted to soak this in.
My family, for all our striving and social climbing, was nothing compared to this.
We were new money, a pack built on aggressive expansion and corporate raiding.
But this… this was legacy.
I was right to move in here.
I looked up at the portraits of Jensen’s ancestors lining the gallery.
They were powerful men with eyes like gold and jawlines made of iron.
Soon, my child’s portrait would hang among them.
Even if Jensen was cold to me now, it didn’t matter.
As long as I carried their heir, my position was absolute.
My mother-in-law, Loretta, would see to that.
In time, every piece of art, every acre of territory, and every cent the pack owned would be mine to manage for my son.

I would be the Matriarch of the South, and Natalie Stone would be nothing but a footnote in a history book I intended to burn.
A faint smile slipped across my lips as I imagined the look on Natalie’s face when she realized I had successfully burrowed into the heart of the family she had served for five years.
Just then, the heavy double doors of the living room were kicked off their hinges.
The boom echoed through the house like a thunderclap.
I jolted in fright, my hands flying to my stomach to protect the only thing that kept me safe.
“Jensen? You’re back!”
I tried to smooth my expression into one of delighted surprise as I rushed toward him.
“Were you worried about me? Is that why you rushed home? I’m fine, really, the hospital said-

I stopped.
The words died in my throat as I saw his face.
Jensen didn’t even look like a man.

His eyes were burning with a scarlet light I hadn’t seen since the night of the warehouse fire.
He looked like he was mid shift.
He looked at my smile, and I saw a flash of stomach-turning disgust cross his features.
What did I do now? He left just a few minutes ago angry and now he’s disgusted.
“How many men have you shown that look to, Sharon? Huh?
I froze, my heart hammering against my ribs.
Men?
“Jensen, what are you talking about? I don’t understand-”
He didn’t let me finish.
In a blur of movement, Jensen’s hand shot out.
His fingers clamped around my throat.
I didn’t even have time to scream before I was lifted off my feet and slammed back onto the velvet sofa.
The impact knocked the wind out of me, but it was the grip on my windpipe that truly terrified me.
“How many beds did you crawl into while wearing my mark, Sharon?
He leaned over me, his face inches from mine.
I could see the vein pulsing in his forehead.
Fuck… he must have found out about Johnson.
I hadn’t meant to have an affair with that stupid doctor.
His face contorted into something dangerous as he stared at me.
Air was cut off instantly.
How did he find out?
I made sure to clear all evidences.
My lungs burned, and the world began to dim at the edges.
I clawed at his arm with my good hand, but without my wolf, it was to no avail.
“Let… me… go…” I wheezed, the words barely a rasp.
I thrashed wildly, my legs kicking out in a primal reflex.
My feet struck the heavy glass coffee table, sending the vases and trays crashing to the floor with a deafening clatter.

Pige Water and broken glass sprayed across the rug, but Jensen didn’t even flinch.
He didn’t seem to hear the destruction.
The thought of me sleeping with other men must have destroyed him.
“Sharon, you deserve to die!”
His grip tightened.
This wasn’t a warning.
For the first time in our lives, Jensen truly wanted to strangle the life out of me.
“JENSEN! STOP!”
Loretta’s voice pierced through the room.
She had rushed into the room and saw her son turned into a rabid animal.

“What are you all standing there for?” she shrieked at the guards and servants who were frozen in the doorway. “Pull him away! He’ll kill her! He’ll kill the baby!”
At her command, four of the strongest house guards hurried forward.
It took all of them, grappling with Jensen’s Alpha strength, to finally drag him off me.
He didn’t go easily; he snarled at them, his wolf’s dominance forcing them to tremble even as they held him.
I slumped against the sofa cushions, nearly blacking out.
My eyes rolled back, and for a terrifying second, I felt the cold touch of the abyss.
