Chapter 245 The Fortress of The North
Chapter 245 The Fortress Of The North
Jensen’s POV
My chest heaved as I stood in the center of the shattered-living room.
“Jensen, what are you doing? Sharon is carrying your child… what were you trying to do just now?”
My mother’s voice was so high-pitched that grated against my nerves.

Sharon was a mess of tangled hair and smeared makeup, her throat already beginning to bloom with the purple-red fingerprints of my rage.
She shivered violently, her shoulders shaking so hard I could hear the faint rattle of her teeth.
“Jensen, what’s wrong?” she wheezed, her voice raspy.
She reached out a trembling hand toward me, but flinched back the moment I shifted my weight.
“Why are you treating me like this all of a sudden? Did Natalie say something to you again? Did that viper poison your mind while I was here?”
She began to cry.
Hearing her try to throw dirt on Natalie made something snap inside me.
I let out a low, guttural sneer that made the house staff in the hall flinch.
“This has nothing to do with Natalie,” I said, my voice dropping into a lethal register.
I leaned over her, my shadow swallowing her whole.
“Natalie is a woman whose name you aren’t even fit to speak. Sharon, you’d better pray to whatever god is left for broken wolves that the baby in your belly is mine. Because if I find out you’ve tried to pass off another man’s blood as my heir… I’ll carve you into pieces. I’ll make the warehouse fire look like a mercy.”
The venom in those last four words made Sharon tremble so violently she nearly slid off the sofa.
She clutched her stomach, her good hand digging into the velvet.
“The baby is yours, Jensen! Of course it’s yours!” she shrieked, her tone turning aggrieved and pitiful. “I’ve only ever wanted your What’s wrong with you? Why are you looking at me like I’m a monster?”
I looked at her and didn’t see the saviour who had donated a rib.
I saw a woman who could betray her husband the very day after their mating ceremony… a woman who had likely used that same fragile, tearful act on Dr. Johnson, and who knew how many others.
For the first time in five years, I saw myself clearly.
I was a fool.
I was a pathetic, arrogant Alpha who had been led by the nose because I was too proud to admit thad been played.

with a cold, sharp snort of disgust, I turned on my heel and walked away.
Loretta was rattled.

She rushed toward me, her hands hovering as if she wanted to catch me but didn’t dare touch the heat coming off my aura.
“Jensen! Stop! Where are you going?” she cried, her voice breaking. “Don’t you dare go hunting! I know that look! If you’re upset, go rest in your room. Let the doctor give you something to settle your nerves. Jensen, I’m getting older; my heart can’t bear anything happening again. Not like last time!”
Her plea made me pause at the heavy oak doors.
I thought of the night of the accident and the five years of debt that followed.
She thought I was going to seek out the thrill of the hunt to drown the pain..
I didn’t answer her.
I walked straight out into the cool night air.
At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to see Natalie.
The need was a physical ache.
I needed to see her face, even if it was filled with hatred.
I needed to breathe in her scent just to remind myself that something pure still existed in this world.
More than anything, I needed to apologize, even if the words died in my throat.
I pulled out my phone as I reached my car, dialing my Beta with a hand that wouldn’t stop shaking.
“Hansel,” I snapped the moment he picked up. “The search. Have you still not found where Natalie is staying? Don’t tell me she’s vanished again. Not now.”
Hansel hesitated.
“Alpha Jensen, I did find the address,” Hansel said quietly. “Our trackers followed the Stone family motorcade after the studio session ended. I have the location in my hand… but sir, I’m telling you now, we may not be able to get in. It’s not like the old villa.”
“Why not?” I growled, swinging into the driver’s seat and starting the engine.
“No one in this city stops the Alpha from entering a residence in his pack.”
