Chapter 247 The Begging hög

Chapter 247 The Begging Dog

Jensen’s POV

Hansel’s voice came through the speaker again, sounding hoarse.

He was my Beta.

Instead, I could hear the unspoken pity in his breath.

“Jensen, I haven’t confirmed the medical reality with a physical scan yet,” Hansel said, his voice cautious. “To be absolutely certain, she’d need a real medical exam, a lumbar puncture, or a fresh bone marrow biopsy to prove the absence of the moon-sickness markers.”

It was all Hansel could say to maintain a shred of distance.

But we both knew.

The chat logs spoke with a clarity that no lab result could override.

As I scrolled, more messages appeared, a relentless flood of evidence showing Sharon urging Johnson to falsify the records, promising him wealth, and then threatening him with accidental exposure if he didn’t make the metastasis look real enough to trigger a wedding.

I no longer doubted.

“Find a reliable family doctor,” I ground out, my voice sounding like it was being dragged over broken glass. “One who isn’t on the pack’s payroll and certainly not one of Johnson’s associates. Have them go to the pack house immediately… Draw Sharon’s blood, run a full physical exam. Tell her it’s a mandatory check-up to establish a health file for the baby’s prenatal development. If she resists… tell her it’s my command.”

“Yes, sir.”

Hansel ended the call, leaving me alone in the dark.

For the first time in my life, the presence within me began to withdraw.

Cairn, my wolf, who had been a constant, snarling force of pride and instinct, was suddenly vocal.

“You are no Alpha,” Cairn’s voice echoed in my mind, sounding deeper and more weary than i had ever heard it.

“You traded the Scribe of our soul for a viper, and you expect me to stand by you?”

The internal connection, the heat that pulsed through my veins.

“I regret being your wolf, Jensen,” Cairn growled. “You didn’t just fail her; you failed the lineage. Since you chose to lose Natalie, the one woman who was the anchor for our spirit… you are no longer worthy of the shift.”

And then, he went completely quiet.

Lreached out for the link and found nothing.

Cairn had shut me out.

He had effectively told me that since I lost Natalie, I was also wolfless.

But my mind refused to quiet.

If Sharon’s moon-sickness was a lie, then she hadn’t just deceived a lover; she had conned an Alpha into a sacred union under false pretenses.

She had used the purity of her supposed sacrifice to make me feel like a villain for even looking at Natalie.

And I had fallen for it.

A bitter, jagged laugh broke from my chest.

Images of Natalie began to fill the void behind my eyes.

I had traded a diamond for a shard of poisoned glass, and I was bleeding out because of it.

The cigarette I had lit earlier had burned down to the butt, the cherry searing the skin of my finger.

I didn’t even feel the heat.

Was it truly over?

I saw my mistake now.

If I humbled myself, Natalie would take me back.

She had to.

At this moment, the need was a physical craving.

I desperately wanted to hear Natalie’s voice.

1 quickly dialed her number, my thumb trembling on the screen.

My heart hammered against my ribs.

Ring.

Just once.

Please.

The call wouldn’t go through.

A flat, mechanical tone informed me that the connection was restricted.

Unwilling to give up, my breath coming in short, panicked gasps, I opened WhatsApp.
