Sharon’s POV

The stark, blinding whiteness of the ceiling was the first thing that registered in my brain.

My eyelids felt as though they had been stitched shut.

For a long, terrifying minute, the boundaries of reality were entirely warped.

I didn’t know where i was, what territory I occupied, or why the air smelled so sharply of clinical antiseptics and the faint, underlying decay of blood.

Then, the floodgates opened.

The memory of the corridor finally settled into my fractured mind.

saw the enforcers’ heavy shields.

The Tealization of my complete, sudden ruin hit me with the velocity of a lightning strike.

I bolted upright in the bed, my arms flailing as my survival instincts screamed at me to clear the mattress, to find an exit before the executioners returned.

But the sudden, violent movement was a catastrophic mistake.

The moment my spine straightened, a sharp, white-hot agonies ripped through my lower abdomen, the unhealed muscles of my core tearing against the sudden strain.

The pressure of the miscarriage flared into a screaming heat that made my vision turn entirely black at the edges.

A strangled, guttural cry of pure physical torture forced itself from my lips, and I collapsed sideways against the silk pillows, my chest heaving as a cold sweat broke out across my neck.

“Ms. Sharon, please, you must not move so recklessly,” a soft, submissive voice murmured from the shadows near the hearth.

I forced my eyes open, my breath coming in short, ragged gasps as a figure stepped into the light of the bedside lamp.

It was one of the lower-tier omegas maids, her posture hunched, her hands clasped meekly over the front of her generic house

apron.

She looked small.

“The pack doctor has already thoroughly examined your channels while you were under the sedative,” she explained, her voice carrying a gentle cadence.

“He stated plainly that the trauma to your womb has resulted in a complete miscarriage. Your body’s physical reserves are far too weak, and you need to remain on absolute, strict bed rest to prevent a permanent collapse of your vitals. From today on, the head butler has assigned me to your quarters. I’ll be taking care of everything for you – your linens, your meals, and your recovery. You

can call me Norah.”

Norah introduced herself gently, her head bowing in a polite gesture of servitude that briefly made me feel like the Luna I was born

to be.

She turned toward the site table, where a ceram water kettle sat heating over a small element, and poured a clean, steaming measure of fluid to a polished porcelain cup

She stepped up to the edge of the mattress, extending the offering with steady hands.

“Your body lost a significant amount of fluids during the execution in the corridor, Ms. Sharon,” Norafi murmurert her clear looking down at me with a soft, comforting pity.

“Dark some warm water first to ground your senses and stabilize your throat”

I didn t reach out.

I sat frozen against the headboard, my dark eyes narrowing into suspicions as 1 eyed her with wariness.

My wolf was dead, but the predatory instincts still worked behind my brow..

In this house, behind these live-wired fences, the very air felt like a trap.

The servants had already proven they were willing to strike me, to kick me while I was down, under Jensen’s silent authorization.

For all I knew, this cup was laced with silver-nitrate meant to quiet my tongue before the High Council could issue a formal registry inquiry.

I made absolutely no move to lift a single hand, my jaw clenching in tight, defensive silence.

Norah didn’t seem offended by my blatant hostility in the least.

She didn’t drop her gaze or project a defensive frequency.

Instead, with a calm composure, she lifted the porcelain cup to her own lips right in front of my face and drank down half the warm water herself, proving the fluid was completely clear of any immediate toxins or metallic contaminants.

She lowered the cup, wiped her mouth with the edge of her sleeve, and then poured a fresh, steaming measure from the kettle back into the porcelain container, offering it to me a second time with the exact same meek, unbothered smile.

Only then did I accept it.

ondition The moment my fingers wrapped around the smooth porcelain, the raw, burning physical reality of my condition overrode my suspicion.

I was utterly parched, my throat feeling as though it were lined with broken glass and ash, my parched tongue sticking to the roof of my mouth.

I lifted the cup with both hands, my fingers shaking so violently the water sloshed over the brim, and began to drink.

I understood my situation as the warm fluid slid down my throat.

My body was far too weak; without the accelerated regeneration of a wolf to patch the damage to my core, I was nothing but a fragile human female trapped in an iron cell.

If I wanted to escape this territory, I first had to recover my physical strength.

The people stationed here weren’t exactly friendly; the butler’s cold words and the enforcer’s boot had made it clear that they might even be actively planning to kill me the moment the legal boundaries of the blood-debt cleared the pack registries.
