Chapter 279 The Stone Family Pot
Chapter 279 The Stone Family Rot
Natalie’s POV
“They didn’t make it. Natalie.”
Flyen swallowed hard.
His throat worked like it was trying to force the words back down.
“They didn’t make it, Natalie.”
“We were too late by a fraction of a minute. The attending physician… the bastard wasn’t a pack doctor at all. He was a rogue sleeper cell carrying a falsified registry token and he managed to inject their primary lines with an advanced, silver-based neural neurotoxin before I could clear the threshold. The dosage was too powerful; their human systems couldn’t filter the load, and they couldn’t be saved.”
Flynn let out a guttural snarl of pure fury and slammed his massive fist directly into the reinforced concrete wall beside the door
frame.
The sheer force of the impact cracked the plaster, and dark crimson blood began to seep from the split skin across the back of his hand, dripping onto the floorboards.
“How could I have been so utterly stupid?” he growled, his golden eyes flashing with a violent light as he stared at his own knuckles.
“Why didn’t I notice the scent anomaly on his uniform before he crossed the security line? If I had just found out his registry mismatch sixty seconds sooner, they wouldn’t have died in that room! Now what? Every single lead we had regarding the hospital switch is cut off completely! Before I left the high sanctuaries, Mom and Dad told me over and over again to protect those targets, to find out the absolute truth of the baby switch to clear our family’s honor; now I’ve destroyed the only physical lead we possessed… go ahead and yell at me, Natalie. Demand my registry token. I deserve it.”
In a sudden, manic spasm of absolute frustration, Flynn lifted his remaining good hand and slapped his own face twice.
“Flynn! Stop it!”
I hurried forward, my hands slamming against his leather-armored forearms to physically pin his wrists and force him to cease the self-harm.
My golden eyes bored into his..
“Listen to me clearly,” I whispered, my grip firm against his muscles until his frantic breathing began to slow.
“Some things in this world, no matter how deeply or how long they are hidden by our enemies, will eventually surface through the cracks. If the physical trail is cut now by an execution, then there is simply nothing to be done about the ledger tonight.”
I let go of his wrists, stepping back as my mind began to connect the pieces of the timeline.
“Think about it logically, brother. That human couple had been monitored by our scouts for a significant period… We managed to intervene and save them once from that car accident on the border trail, but we could never have saved them a second or a third time against an enemy operating inside our own lines.”
He stared at me, calmer now.

they hand valued their con survival over their secrets, they would have sought the protection of the Stone family’ mamaiopgear, age, vei, even with their lives being threatened by arsonists and saboteurs, they still didn’t turn to our lineage for Sanchiarahich shows me only one thing”
I leaned in, my voice sinking into a dark whisper that made Flynn’s ears prick forward in alert.
“It shows that whoever was threatening them was an entity far more terrifying and far more structurally pervasive than the Stone family
My brow furrowed deeply, the scent of the warehouse fire five years ago returning to my mentory.
“I’m beginning to think more than ever that Uncle Xenon and his wife didn’t die by a simple accident along the nomadic migration routes twenty years ago. The patterns are identical, Flynn. Yvonne really is his biological daughter, and her exite was part of the same scriptTM
Flynn nodded quickly when I voiced the name.
“Mom and Dad investigated that specific deployment too before the winter shift,” Flynn whispered, his jaw tightening until the bone showed sharp.
“The remote orphanage that took Yvonne in after the wreckage… the entire facility pack packed up and moved away mysteriously less than forty-eight hours after she left the registry boundaries. Our scouts went down to verify the location last month, but no one in the local sectors knew where the staff had gone, and there were absolutely no registration records left in any regional archive… it was like the entire structure had simply vanished into thin air.”
I nodded my agreement, turning my head to look back toward the reception alcove where Baron was still holding our children, his massive frame an immovable wall of dark iron guarding our future.
“Yes,” I said.
“The enemy is already sitting inside our den, Flynn. Now, before you take another step along the border trails, you need to completely clear out the remaining staff standing around your person. We arranged what we believed to be an airtight, tight security detail around that safehouse, yet that couple still had a fatal incident right under our noses; that proves the Stone family’s inner ring is full of holes… there are other people’s spies planted everywhere, from the couriers to the medical units.”
I stepped closer to him, my eyes locked onto his.
“That means not just me, but you, and Mom, and Dad aren’t safe anywhere within the provincial territories anymore. The old banners won’t protect you from a hidden knife. Flynn, if necessary… if you want to ensure your tracking details are clean… Baron’s elite shadow enforcers could actually be useful to your vanguard. His people don’t answer to the Southern council, and they don’t carry the Stone family’s rot.”
