Jensen’s POV

I stood there beneath the rain like a condemned man outside his own grave, one trembling hand pressed tightly against the center of my ribs as if I could physically force the agony back down into my bones.

Across from me, Felix stared in complete silence.

The expression on his face was unbearable.

Pity.

Not even frustration anymore.

Just pity.

The rainwater dripping from my hair slid down my face like cold tears, though by now I could no longer tell which was which.

For a long moment, Felix didn’t speak.

Then finally, with a heavy exhale, he stepped forward and grabbed my shoulder firmly.

Come inside,he muttered.

I didn’t move.

My bloodshot eyes remained fixed on the towering mansion ahead of us.

Everything looked exactly the same.

The grand pillars.

The polished windows.

The warm chandelier glowing faintly through the foyer glass.

Five years of my life existed inside those walls.

Five years of Natalie.

The thought alone nearly broke my knees.

She used to wait for me there,” I whispered blankly.

Felix’s grip tightened slightly.

Jensen.

Every night.

The words came slowly now, fragmented beneath the alcohol and grief strangling my thoughts.

No matter how late I came home from meetingsno matter how exhausted she wasshe always waited.

My throat burned violently.

The foyer door blurred in my vision.

I could almost see her standing there again.

Smail figure beneath the lights.

Her hair loose around her shoulders.

Warm tea already prepared before I even asked.

Ancestors.

I squeezed my eyes shut hard enough to ache.

Felix cursed softly under his breath before finally forcing me forward.

This time my legs obeyed.

Barely.

The moment we crossed the mansion threshold, silence crashed over me like a tidal wave.

The estate was too quiet.

No footsteps.

No music drifting from the study.

No faint scent of jasmine lingering in the air.

Nothing.

The mansion felt hollow now.

I stopped walking immediately.

Felix didn’t allow it.

He shoved me forward again with visible irritation.

Keep moving.

My boots dragged heavily across the polished marble floors as he halfguided, halfcarried me toward the staircase.

The alcohol flooding my bloodstream had turned my coordination to ash.

By the time we reached the upper hallway, my balance was almost completely gone.

I stumbled hard into the wall.

Chapter 304 The Ghost In The Kitchen

Felix caught me with a sharp curse.

You’re a disaster.

A bitter laugh escaped me.

You have no idea.

The master bedroom doors opened heavily before us.

And the second I entered the room, the remaining air inside my lungs vanished.

Everything still carried traces of her.

One of her books rested beside the chaise lounge near the windows.

A silk ribbon remained forgotten on the vanity table.

Her cardigan still hung over the reading chair exactly where she left it.

Nothing had changed.

Nothing except her absence.

The sight hollowed me out so completely that my knees nearly buckled beneath me.

Felix grabbed my arm immediately before I collapsed facefirst onto the floor.

Easy.

I can smell her,I whispered hoarsely.

The faint trace of jasmine still lingered in the fabric of the room.

Felix carefully dragged me toward the bed and shoved me down onto the edge of the mattress.

The silk sheets shifted beneath my weight.

And suddenly memory struck so viciously I physically recoiled

Natalie sitting here beside me while organizing documents late at night.

Natalie laughing softly when I pulled her into my lap during work.

Natalie falling asleep against my shoulder beneath the bedside lamp.

My breathing became uneven again.

I miss her.

The confession slipped out broken and raw.

Felix looked away briefly.

She’s gone, Jensen.

No.

The denial came instantly.

She’s angry,I muttered, gripping the edge of the mattress tightly enough for my knuckles to pale. That’s all this is. She’s angry! mated Sharon.

Felix said nothing.

Which somehow hurt worse.

I laughed suddenly.

A hollow, miserable sound.

She loved me too much to leave forever.

Silence.

My chest tightened violently.

I fixed it.

Finally Felix looked at me directly.

And the exhaustion in his eyes nearly shattered what little remained of my composure.

That doesn’t erase what happened.

I flinched hard enough for him to notice.

My hands started shaking.

I know,I whispered.

Ancestors.

I knew.

That was the worst part.

For the first time since Natalie walked away, I fully understood the scale of what I had done to her.

And there was no undoing it.

Felix rubbed one hand across his face before pulling out his phone.

What are you doing?

Calling your mother.

I groaned weakly.

I’m not dying.

No,he muttered grimly But you’re definitely losing your damn mind.

He dialed Loretta immediately.

The moment he explained my condition, panic erupted through the phone loud enough for even me to hear faintly from across the

room.

Wonderful.

Now the entire household would know their Alpha had fallen apart over another woman.
