Chapter 311 The Gatekeeper
Chapter 311 The Gatekeeper
Baron’s POV
The violent intrusion of the Nightfang sedan shattered the smooth atmosphere.
Inside the cabin, Ruby reacted first.

Her fingers clamped around my right arm plate before the collision fully registered, her body leaning forward as if she could physically rewrite the laws of motion through sheer will alone.
That split–second hesitation altered everything as the impact came.
Waylon moved faster than sound.
One moment he was seated; the next he had shifted Ruby into his chest.
I exhaled slowly through my nose and brought the vehicle under full control, shifting into park.
My gaze cut immediately to the rearview mirror.
“Dad. Mom,” I said lowly. “Are you okay? I’m so sorry about that.”
Ruby straightened instantly, her reaction was immediate.
“What are you apologizing for?” she snapped, already scanning my shoulders instead of her own body. “Baron, are you injured?”
I let a faint smile surface as I checked the system readouts in my mind.
“I’m fine,” I answered calmly. “Stay inside the cabin… Lock down your channels… I’ll assess the intruder.”
Raze stirred beneath my ribs, ‘he’s here.
No response came from me because I had already figured that out.
The collision itself had been reckless… Too reckless.
No wolf would cut across a secured transport lane inside another sovereign territory unless emotion had qompletely overridden judgment.
That alone narrowed the list of suspects considerably.
Behind me, I heard Ruby shift inside the cabin.
“Baron.”
Her voice carried concern now.
“I can come with you.”
The answer left my mouth immediately

Waylon finally spoke.
“Let him.” The older Alpha’s voice was calm. “Whoever is outside made the mistake of entering Baron’s perimeter.”
His gaze shifted toward the windshield.
I opened the door.
The cool night air greeted me immediately.
The moment my boots hit gravel, the atmosphere changed and Jensen stepped out.
Disheveled suit.
Slightly unsteady posture.
His gaze locked onto me instantly.
“Baron?” he spat.
I closed the distance between us by one controlled step, positioning my body so he could not see past me into the SUV.
“Jensen,” I replied, the air between us tightened.
“You just blocked a sovereign transport line inside my perimeter,” I continued. “State your intent.”
His lips twisted as a laugh escaped him.
“My intent?” he echoed. “I came here for the Stone family.”
His eyes flicked past me for half a second toward the SUV.
Then back to me.
“And you,” he added, scanning me like an object he had already decided was beneath evaluation, “are in my way.”
The words landed, but did not move anything in me.
Raze stirred beneath my ribs, calm but alert.
Jensen continued, voice gaining volume, as if he believed volume could substitute for authority.
“When I saw you at the press alignment months ago, I assumed you had actual standing in the northern registry,” he said, “Turns out you’re just a discarded branch from your family line. A cast–out asset playing loyal servant inside another family’s structure
A faint smirk formed.
“You’ve built yourself into a live in arrangement.”
He tilted his head slightly.
But let’s be clear
You’re not a gatekeeper of anything meaningful. You’re just standing where intend to pass

The wind moved between us.
Then I spoke.
“You misunderstand your position,” I said.
His brows tightened.
That slight change told me everything.
“You are inside a controlled perimeter,” I continued. “And I am the variable keeping it stable.”
Jensen scoffed.
“You think I’m afraid of you?”
He took a step forward.
上
Then another.
He stopped directly in front of me and pushed, his palm hit my chest.
Hard.
A full–force shove meant to reposition me but yet, nothing happened/
The force rebounded through his own arm instead, forcing his balance to correct instinctively.
His eyes narrowed immediately.
