Chapter 77 The Bargain
Quincy’s POV

The four walls of my bedroom had felt like a cage these past few days. I had been bedridden, the weight of our pack sudden collapse pressing down on my chest.
But what hurt more was the fear of rogues taking over the pack.
They had already taken over the eastern part of the pack, more than half of the guards had lost their lives, and the pack members had lost faith in our leadership.
Sharon, my own flesh and blood acted like she was completely blind to my suffering.
She had barely visited the pack, she’d always complain about her “symptoms” or throw a tantrum because Jensen hadn’t called her back.
Not once had she asked if I was still in pain or even asked how the pack was doing.
Her father had barely eaten anything for the past month.
The mother–daughter warmth I had cherished since her return was gone, replaced by a cold selfishness that I didn’t want to recognize.
In that silence, I couldn’t help but think of Natalie.
I had raised that girl for eighteen years… I had taught her how to walk, how to speak, how to carry herself with the dignity befitting a daughter of the Alpha of the Moonreign pack.
And how had I repaid her?
I had treated her like a squatter in her own home the moment Sharon appeared. I had watched Jensen break her heart, and I had cheered him on, thinking it was only right for my “real” daughter to take what was hers.
Only now, staring at the ceiling of a house we were about to lose, did I realize the horrific truth. Natalie would have been by my side and stayed up all night nursing me back to health without a single complaint.
If… if only I hadn’t favored Sharon so much… If only I’d been kinder to Natalie even after Sharon came back, maybe she wouldn’t have fled to that pack, maybe she wouldn’t have burned.
Now, Jensen was the only one who could save the Moonreign Pack.
He had withdrawn his alliance, taking his elite warriors and his defensive technology with him. Without his protection, we were a carcass waiting for the vultures.
Before, I had thrown everything into protecting Sharon. But now, after seeing just how selfish Sharon really was, I made up my mind. I had to secure a future for myself and the pack.
The Moonreign legacy couldn’t fall.
The moment I felt even a little better, I dressed in my best remaining sult and headed straight to Jensen’s pack othe
I didn’t care about my dignity anymore, but his head guard was a wall of cold stone

He wouldn’t let me through, and I couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the man I used to call “son–in–law.”
Finally, I couldn’t take it… I began to shout, and when that didn’t work, I half shifted.
My wolf, Noelle, took over and nearly clawed out the eyes of the guards.
We made a scene in the lobby and made our way to him.
Jensen hadn’t been sleeping well lately; I could see it the moment he stepped out.
His face was as cold as ice as he stood at the top of the stairs.
1 lit up the moment I saw him, pushing my wolf back to the back of my mind.
“Alpha! Jensen! I know something about Natalie! Something you don’t!”
That name – Natalie – worked like a magic spell.
Jensen’s expression softened just a fraction, the murderous glint in his eyes replaced by a sharp, desperate curiosity.
He waved the guards back.
“What do you want?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

“I want my pack to be like before,” I said, stepping forward, my hands clasped in a plea. “Jensen, we can’t go under; we raised Natalie for eighteen years. Even if we weren’t related by blood, she was still brought up by me. There are things only I know… her habits, her secrets, things she told me in the dark when she was a child. If you help restore my pack, I promise to tell you everything I know about her.”
I looked at him, my eyes filled with a frantic hope. I was bargaining with someone who hated my guts, and I knew it.
Jensen’s brow furrowed, his eyes narrowing. “Are you threatening me, Luna Quincy?”
“No, no! I really do know things,” I insisted, my voice rising. “And if you help the pack, I’ll even tell you something about Sharon… something you need to know.”
“Mom!”
The scream ripped through the lobby; I turned to see Sharon rushing toward us.
Despite her claims of being ill, she was moving with a frantic, panicked energy.
She looked pale, her eyes wide with a terror I didn’t fully understand.
She arrived just in time to hear my last sentence.
“Mom! What are you doing?” Sharon grabbed my arm, her fingers digging into my skin with surprising strength.
She forced a smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes, which were darting toward Jensen.
“Jensen is really busy – have you thought about how this makes me look? Coming here and causing a scene”
I could feel her fuming.

“Mom, I’ve never stopped caring about the pack… remember, it’s my home too,” she spoke sweetly.

“Jensen’s just been busy lately, but I promise–once he’s got time, he’ll help us. Don’t worry, okay? If it comes to it, I’ll personally send some guards over there.”
As she spoke those loving words, her hand–hidden from Jensen’s view–pinched the soft, tender flesh of my inner arm.
