Chapter 85 The Truth Revealed
Baron’s POV
My wolf was pacing, claws scraping against the walls of my mind, demanding a blood price.

“I wasn’t serving them willingly!” Finn gasped, the words bubbling up through the blood and spit on his chin. “I had no choice, Baron.”
He drew in a sharp breath, his chest heaving as if the air were too heavy to breathe.
“I found them… I found my real parents. After all these years, I finally tracked them down. I thought I was doing something good…I thought I could be more than just a soldier.”
He laughed, a hollow sound that made my skin crawl.
“They were miserable and my father was drowning in loan–shark debts he couldn’t repay and for him to settle the interest, he sold my mother. By the time I found out the name of the man who bought her, it was already too late.”
“You found your parents – why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you bring this to the Pack?” I shouted, my Alpha tone slipping out.
“You had too much on your plate!” Finn shouted, his voice cracking. “You were dealing with the expansion, with the Nightfang Pack, and it was my private matter.”
“Private matter? You’re a member of this pack… your problem is our problem.”
Regret twisted Finn’s face into something unrecognizable.
I looked at the man who had been my right hand, the man I would have trusted with Natalie’s life, and I saw a stranger.
I hadn’t expected such a twist.
For a moment, even I had no more words.
Finn went on, his voice hoarse. “My father never told me he was in trouble until it was too late, he was afraid I’d lash out at him for being a bad husband.”
His shoulders slumped, “he tried to run, but they caught him. Then I got the call when they told me if I didn’t obey, they’d chop him up and sell him piece by piece. I checked the signals, Baron. I tracked the accounts. He really is in their hands.”
“What about your mom?” I asked.
“She… they kept her under control. She was already sick, and in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by guards who didn’t speak her language, she broke down completely. So lagreed to one task… Just one, they didn’t say what it was at first. I was worried, but also relieved that the price was so small.”
My expression hardened.
“Later, when you went to the Nightfang pack, they asked me only to pass along your whereabouts. I asked if that would be enough
told me to wait. I realized then they already had people monitoring you while to free my parents, to end the debt. They said no you were with Natalie.”
The more he spoke, the harder it was to keep Raze under control.

“Then Natalie’s accident happened… the fire at the villa. They called, ordering me to create chaos within our pack. They instructed me to pull you away… I swear on Yvonne’s soul, Baron, I didn’t know Natalie was their target. I thought it was a distraction for a heist. If I had known they were going to burn her alive, I never would have let Phantom go. Even if it meant defying your order, even if it meant my own death, I’d have kept her back.”
“So that chaos – the issues in the pack – you created it?”
Finn’s teeth clenched so hard I heard the enamel grind.
At last, he nodded.
My fury exploded as I lunged forward, my kick sending Finn sprawling across the floor, his body slamming into the cold storage lockers.
“Do you know how many warriors we lost in that ‘chaos‘?” I roared.
“Money is nothing – I would have bought your father’s life ten times over! But those men trusted you… they fought for you. They had families, mates, children waiting at home. And because of your decision to ‘handle it,‘ they never returned! How do you look at their empty chairs?”
Finn rolled on the floor, coughing up blood, but he didn’t protest.
He didn’t even try to shield himself. “Baron, I was wrong. I was wrong!”
“Wrong? The warriors you killed can’t hear your apology!”
I paced the room, the scent of his fear added more to my rage. “You say you only wanted to delay me then why did Phantom fail her mission? She was the best we had. She shouldn’t have missed that opening… Was that your order, too? Did you tell her to let Natalie burn?”
