Chapter 95 Bloodlines
Chapter 95 Bloodlines
Baron’s POV
Her eyes began to redden immediately after I landed those words.
I knew her history or rather, the lack of it.
She had never truly known her surname.
The orphanage director in the outskirts of the pack had told her she’d been abandoned at the iron gates.
But my promise; the formal recognition of her as a High–Blood of the Blackridge line definitely did something to her.
“Alpha…” she started, her voice cracking.
“Call me by my name or brother,” I cut in, the corner of my mouth quirking into a genuine smile.
It felt strange to say it out loud.
In the wolves hierarchy of the great packs, siblings were often rivals or competitors.
But with her, it felt like reclaiming a piece of myself.
“No one’s ever called me that before… I think I’d like to hear how it sounds.” I said genuinely.

Yvonne froze, her breath hitching in her chest. She looked at me as if searching for a hidden trick then she whispered, almost shyly, “My dear brother.”
“Eh!” I answered with a cheer I hadn’t felt before.
It was as though I’d been waiting my whole life for that single acknowledgment.
I felt completely free.
“When you’re healed and the grafts have fully integrated, I’ll tell the Council. I’ll tell everyone,” I continued, my voice firm. “You’re my sister, no one will dare question your blood.”
“Thank you.” She whispered, trying to contain her tears.
I reached out and ruffled her hair gently, the way I did with Susie when she was particularly stubborn. “How are you feeling, truly? Don’t give me the scout’s report… talk to me as family. How are you?”
“It hurts,” she admitted, wincing as she tried to shift her weight.
The Stone family’s Nomadic Vitality was working, but the process of nerves reknitting was like a thousand needles under the skin.
“If I’m in this much pain from just a few harvests… then Ms. Summers… her whole body was a battlefield. How much worse must it be for her?”
My gaze softened with an ache, even in her pain she was thinking about Natalie.
I thought of Natalie, swathed in bandages in the other room.

“That pain – she’ll repay it in her own way. She’s stronger than she looks, Yvonne. For you, rest is the only duty now. Don’t make her worry, she can already sense your distress through the link”
*I know. I can sense hers too.” She nodded with a small, tired smile.
We talked for a while longer about the children, about the villa’s reconstruction, and about random things.
Before I stood to leave, I drew a black titanium card from my pocket and pressed it into her palm.
“You’re my sister now, this is your welcome gift. Spend it however you want – buy a fleet of cars or a mountain in the South. need anything at all, you tell me.”
“I don’t need this, brother. I have my savings from the missions… and I don’t even go out–”
“What’s yours is yours,” I said with finality, closing her fingers over the card. “This is mine for you. Keep it. A Princess of the Blackridge pack doesn’t check her balance.”
I tucked her hand back under the safety of the covers and left the room.
Behind me, I heard a soft, muffled sob.
The moment the door to the recovery wing clicked shut, the warmth of the “brother” role was tucked away, replaced by the role of the Alpha of the Blackridge pack.
“Alpha Baron,” a shadow approached me… It was one of my lead trackers. “We’ve traced Finn. He entered the woods three hours ago and hasn’t come out since.”
My mood shifted.
“Keep watching every exit, I want to know. Don’t engage yet. I want him to feel the walls closing in.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
I turned and walked toward my private laboratory.
The villa was quiet, the children finally asleep, but my mind was restless.
On the wooden desk lay an unopened envelope under the desk lamp.
I had nearly forgotten in the chaos of the surgery – the DNA results.
I tore it open.
The findings made me pause as I read the markers.
I had suspected a connection, given the “True Match” results, but the specifics were startling
Yvonne and Natalie shared undeniable blood ties – but they weren’t sisters.
Not seters… cousins.
