shadows as our group ventured into the island’s primal forest. Devon led with a bow
“Remember, hunting demands patience and observation,” Devon said
Your awakened wolf sharpens your senses–use them.”
I nodded, focusing. Since my wolf’s return, I heard distant birdsong, smelled animal scents in the air, and felt subtle vibrations underfoot.
“Look there,” he pointed to a bush. “Rabbit tracks. Sense it?”
I closed my eyes, inhaling deeply. A faint rabbit musk and fresh prints registered.
“I feel it!” I exclaimed, eyes snapping open.
“Good, Devon nodded approvingly. “Now, I’ll teach silent approach.”
He moved behind me, hands on my shoulders, adjusting my stance. “Relax your shoulders, shift weight forward.” His voice was a warm whisper in my ear, hands sliding to my waist–intimate, making my pulse race. I focused on the lesson, but his touch ignited a spark.
“Step lightly, like a cat,” he guided, hands steadying me. I moved forward, footsteps nearly silent.
“Perfect, he murmured. “You’re a quick learner.”
Nearby, Lily and Aileen practiced archery with Aiden, their laughter echoing.
After an hour, we spotted a plump rabbit foraging unaware.
“Your turn, Devon handed me the bow. “Deep breath, aim, release.”
My hands trembled. He stood behind, covering my hands with his, steadying me. “Trust your instincts, his voice firm yet gentle.
I inhaled, aimed, and loosed. The arrow struck true; the rabbit fell.
“I did it!” I spun, hugging him tightly.
He embraced me, pride gleaming. ‘I knew you could.”
Evelyn! Amazing!” Lily rushed over. “First hunt success–you’re a natural!”
“Devon taught well,” I said humbly, buzzing with achievement.
Aiden inspected the rabbit. “Clean shot–no suffering. True hunter’s mark.”
Aileen patted my shoulder. “Wild game dinner tonight.”
Devon packed the rabbit. “Let’s push deeper.”

Chapter 210
Hours passed; the sun dipped, forest darkening. We’d bagged more–Aiden a pheasant, Lily and Aileen squirrels.
“Time flew,” I said, eyeing emerging stars. “Feels like we just started.”
“Forests do that,” Devon replied. “Time stands still.”
But as night deepened, a strange restlessness stirred in ine, growing from afternoon whispers to insistent urges.
When the full moon rose through the treetops, my blood boiled–heart pounding, breaths short. My gaze locked on Devon: his movements, scent, everything fueled an intense craving.
“Devon, I approached, voice shaky. “Something’s wrong.”
He turned, eyes narrowing at my heated stare. “Evelyn… what day is it?”
I glanced at the moon. ‘Full moon night?”
He nodded, emotions flickering. “And you’re my mate. The pull peaks now.”
Aiden noticed, approaching Devon. “We’ll head back, prep dinner. Take your time.”
Lily and Aileen packed up wordlessly; Aileen squeezed my shoulder. “Call if you need us.”
Soon, it was just us under silvery moonlight.
“Evelyn, listen,” Devon cupped my face. “Full moon urges can be controlled. I’ll teach you.”
