Rise of the Banished She-Wolf (Evelyn) novel Chapter 84

**Where Falling Leaves Whisper Stories Written In Silence by Ryn Jace Reed**

**Chapter 84**

Evelyn

Throughout my time as Aurora, I had encountered some of the most perilous figures the world had to offer, yet none struck fear quite like Charles Ashford. He was a notorious predator, infamous for his insatiable desire to collect beautiful women as if they were mere trophies to adorn his lavish lifestyle.

“Aurora,” he purred, his voice smooth as silk, wrapping around the air like a seductive melody.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow that illuminated his unnaturally pale skin, which seemed almost ethereal, translucent in the night. His eyes glimmered with a haunting reddish hue, an unsettling sight that sent a shiver down my spine. My wolf instincts roared in alarm, a primal warning that echoed in the depths of my mind, though my own wolf lay dormant, frustratingly silent.

“Ashford,” I replied, my tone icy and unyielding. “I should have obliterated your empire when I had the chance.”

He chuckled, the sound reverberating across the deserted beach, a chilling melody that danced on the wind. “Always so spirited. I’ve been searching for you for years, and now here you are—delivered right into my hands.”

Beside me, Taylor emitted a low growl, his muscles tensing with barely contained rage, a coiled spring ready to unleash. I placed a steadying hand on his arm, feeling the heat radiating from his skin, a tangible reminder of his fury simmering just below the surface.

“What is it that you want?” I asked, even though the answer was painfully clear.

Charles gestured grandly toward a meticulously set table on the beach, adorned with flickering candles and exquisite china that sparkled in the moonlight. “I thought we might enjoy a lovely dinner first. A chance to reacquaint ourselves.”

“I have no appetite,” I replied, my voice firm.

“No?” His smile widened, revealing a set of teeth that were unnaturally white and perfectly aligned, almost predatory. “Perhaps you’ll reconsider when I mention that my yacht is equipped with a fully stocked medical bay. Your little friend over there doesn’t look like she’ll survive the night without proper care.”

My jaw tightened at his words. Aileen lay barely clinging to life, her skin a ghastly shade of ashen gray from blood loss and the poison coursing through her veins.

“Fine,” I said through clenched teeth. “But our business ends there.” My priority was crystal clear—saving Aileen at all costs.
