Chapter 198: The Letter That Waited

Lyra POV

The discovery of the letter changed the mood of the entire estate overnight. What should have been a simple day of naming ceremony preparations suddenly became something much more personal

I arrived in the main house early the next morning carrying several folders and a list of unfinished tasks. The narning ceremony was only days away, and everyone seemed determined to prepare for it properly.

Kyra met me halfway down the hallway. She looked unusually excited.

“Did you hear about the letter?” she asked.

“I heard enough to know everyone is talking about it.”

Kyra nodded dramatically.

“It might be something important.”

“Or it might not.”

She looked disappointed by my answer. Then she hurried away before I could stop her.

The estate felt busy from the moment I arrived. Staff moved decorations, security coordinated guest lists, and family members drifted in and out of conversations about names, traditions, and schedules.

For the first time in a long while, most of the activity centered around something positive. The atmosphere felt lighter than

it had in months.

I spent most of the morning helping organize practical details. The work was simple, but I found myself enjoying it more than I expected.

At one point, I passed the nursery and saw Amorah sitting beside the crib. Little Fang was awake and staring at her with complete concentration.

The sight made me smile.

A few months ago, I would have envied what she had. Now I mostly felt grateful that she had managed to build it.

Later that morning, Conrad gathered several people inside his office. The unopened letter rested on the desk between him and Amorah.

Nobody had broken the seal yet.

“We verified the handwriting,” Conrad said.

I took a seat near the back of the room. Everyone seemed curious about what the letter contained.

“Who wrote it?” Amorah asked.

Conrad opened a file beside him.

“It belonged to someone connected to my father’s side of the family.”

The answer immediately captured everyone’s attention. Even Zane stopped pretending he was bored.

“So it isn’t dangerous?” Kyra asked.

“Not as far as we can tell.”

The twins exchanged relieved looks. Then they immediately became curious again.

Conrad carefully opened the envelope. The room remained silent while he unfolded the letter.

For several moments, nobody spoke.

Then Amorah quietly asked, “What does it say?”

Conrad looked down at the page.

“It’s personal.”

The letter had apparently been written years before the baby existed. Somehow, though, it had been intended for a future child in the family.

Conrad read several sections aloud.

The contents focused on family, responsibility Successfully unlocked!tecting the people you love and building

something worth passing to the next generatio

Nobody interrupted him while he read. By the time he finished, the room felt strangely emotional.

“It wasn’t a warning: Amorah said softly

“No.”

“It was advice”

Conrad nodded.

The letter did not reveal hidden secrets or dangerous information. Instead, it felt like a message waiting for the/right moment to be discovered

Kyra wiped at her eyes before anyone noticed.

Zane noticed immediately.

“Are you crying?”

“No.”

“You are.”

She glared at him.

“I said no.”

The argument distracted everyone from the emotional atmosphere. Within seconds, the room sounded normal again.

After the meeting ended, preparations resumed. Guests needed confirmation, schedules needed approval, and decorations still required attention.

I spent most of the afternoon helping coordinate small details. The work kept me busy enough to avoid overthinking things.

Around midday, I found myself working alongside Amorah in one of the estate’s sitting rooms. The situation would have felt impossible a year ago.

She reviewed guest lists while I organized ceremony supplies.

“Can you hand me that folder?” she asked.

I passed it over immediately.

“Thanks.”

The conversation ended there. Even so, the interaction felt significant.

Amorah still watched me carefully. She still remembered every mistake I had made.

The difference was that she no longer seemed to expect another betrayal every time I entered a room.

That small change meant more than I ever admitted.

Later that afternoon, Little Fang began crying loudly from the nursery. Several adults immediately moved toward the sound. “I’ll get him,” I offered.

Amorah hesitated briefly. Then she nodded.

Trust from Amorah came slowly. Every small step felt earned.

When I entered the nursery, Little Fang stopped crying almost immediately. He stared at me for several seconds before grabbing my finger.

“You’re getting spoiled,” I told him.

The baby responded with a happy sound.

A few minutes later, Amorah arrived.

“He stopped?”

“Almost immediately.”

She smiled faintly.

“He does that sometimes.”

For several moments, neither of us spoke. The silence felt comfortable rather than awkward.

Then Amorah surprised me.

“Thank you,” she said.

I blinked.

“For what?”

“For helping”

The words were simple Somehow, they carried more weight than a long speach

I looked away briefly

“You don’t need to thank me.”

“Maybe I do.”
