Chapter 185

When Landon showed up, Nicolas and Caleb looked even more pissed.

Nicolas knew Landon had always had a thing for Alicia back in their school days.

Alicia and Landon used to be pretty close, and Nicolas had gone to great lengths to keep them apart.

He even hinted to Dustin that maybe his family should ship Landon overseas.

That way, Landon wouldn’t be much of a threat to Dustin anymore.

And it seemed the Hayes family had the same idea, because they really did send him overseas.

Nicolas never expected Landon to actually come back now.

He figured Landon must’ve heard about the fallout between him and Alicia and was trying to take advantage of the situation

Nicolas couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of vigilance toward Landon.

Caleb, on the other hand, just plain didn’t like Landon.

For one thing, Caleb was pretty tight with Dustin.

And for another, Landon and Caleb had never gotten along in college-Landon was his biggest rival.

Among young directors overseas, Landon had snagged more awards than Caleb ever had.

Caleb had known that back in school, Alicia had helped Landon out a few times, so the two of them were pretty close.

But he never expected that even after Landon went overseas, they’d still keep in touch-and now, Alicia had even brought Landon along as a guest.

To Caleb, it almost felt like she was deliberately trying to get under his skin.

The host gestured for Alicia and Landon to take their seats. “Please, have a seat over here.”

They walked over to the guest seats, where there were two spots left.

And those seats just happened to be right next to Caleb.

Alicia sat down in the seat next to the one next to Caleb, clearly not wanting to sit right next to him.

Landon, on the other hand, sat down right next to Caleb like it was no big deal.

Landon took the initiative and greeted him with a grin. “Director Caleb, long time no see!”

Just moments ago, Caleb’s eyes had darkened when he saw Alicia purposely leave an empty seat between them.

Caleb gave a stiff, insincere smile as he replied. “Director Landon, long time no see!”

Jett’s voice rang out. “Wow, that was the fakest greeting I’ve ever seen.

Landon arched an eyebrow at him. “Oh? Then how do you think we should say hi?”

Jett grinned. “You should just start roasting each other the moment you meet.”

Caleb realized Jett was just here to stir the pot. “We’re not as uncivilized as you.”

Jett shot him a look. “Come on, Director Caleb, you must be blind. I’m always the picture of refinement.”

Caleb and Landon just stared at him, speechless.

“This guy is seriously shameless, they both thought.

Neither of them bothered to respond.

Jett turned to Alicia. “Well, if it isn’t Alicia-the undefeated queen of our school!”

[He really did show up.]

[Is this guy here to be on the show, or just here to make everyone hate him?]

[Alicia’s that badass? She was unbeatable at school?]

[Things are about to get good. Let’s see how Alicia schools him.]

Alicia knew Jett was about to talk trash.

She shot him a look. “What, did they just let you out of the psych ward?”

Jett grinned. “Didn’t you graduate from Solmare Medical College? Can’t you tell if I’m crazy or not?” Alicia looked him up and down. “Yeah, I checked. You’re definitely not right in the head.”

Jett raised an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? What’s my diagnosis?”

Alicia replied, “You’re all bark and no bite, running on empty. Seriously, you’re running on fumes!”

She wasn’t just roasting Jett; with her medical background, she could diagnose him at a glance.

She couldn’t figure out how someone so loud and chaotic could be so drained inside.

Her words made Caleb and the others burst out laughing.

‘Only Alicia could pull that off, they all thought.

Instead of getting mad, Jett just stood up, dragged his chair over, and plopped down right next to Alicia.

He held out his hand. “Alright, then. Go ahead and check my pulse. Tell me what’s wrong with me and how to fix it.

Everyone just stared at him, speechless.

‘Wait, is this guy actually that frail?’ they all thought.

Alicia was actually a little curious about what was really going on with Jett’s health.

She reached out and checked his pulse. “You run your mouth all day and never stop talking trash-how do you still end up mentally exhausted from all that internal drama?”

From his pulse, she could tell he’d been under constant mental pressure for a long time, never able to let it out, and it had
