Rising From Betrayal Reborn As The Family Outcast (Alicia Delaney) novel Chapter 199

Chapter 199

Next, the production team led everyone to where they’d be staying.

Greenpeak Village is nestled in the mountains, with a winding road that snakes up to the top.

Since they’d been chosen to help out Greenpeak Village this time, the village chief and the council had put in a lot of work to get ready.

They even talked to a family who’d moved to the city and got permission to use their house.

It’s one of the rare three-story brick houses around here.

The production team kept things straightforward with the accommodations-each guest got their own room, and the setup was pretty much the same for everyone.

After dropping off their luggage, everyone gathered downstairs.

The host looked at the guests and said, “Alright, from now on, you guys are on your own to hunt down your ingredients.

“Bring them back and handle your own dinner tonight.”

Nicolas asked, “How are we supposed to find them? Can we just buy them from the villagers with our own money?”

He’d never been on a variety show before, so he had no clue how things worked.

The host chuckled. “Nope, buying ingredients with cash is off the table.

“You’ll need to pitch in and help the villagers out-trade your hard work for tonight’s dinner.”

Nicolas gave a helpless look. “Do we look like we know how to trade labor for food?”

Honestly, none of us have a clue about this kind of thing.

The host gave an awkward smile. “The production team believes

can you

do it.”

That was the whole point-watching them struggle was what made it fun.

“Alright, it’s getting late-time to head out and start hunting for your ingredients!

“Whether you come back with a feast or nothing at all, just make sure you’re here by six o’clock at the latest,” the host said,

Caleb glanced at his watch. “It’s already past four. Is less than two hours really enough time?”

The host grinned. “Come on, I know you guys can pull it off.”

Caleb was speechless. “We don’t even believe in ourselves.

But he knew there was no point in arguing.

Alicia turned to the host and asked, “Can we merge teams or form bigger teams?

The host glanced over at Marley.

Marley spoke up, “How do you want to form the teams?”

Alicia said, “You guys know I don’t get along with Nicole and her crew, I don’t want to go out and find ingredients rust her cook for us, and I definitely don’t want to eat with them, either.

“So, can our team join forces with Team Two? We can look for ingredients together and have Hannah handle the cooking

Caleb nodded. “Alright.”

Since he couldn’t team up with his own sister Nicole, this was the only option left for him

The villagers had heard that the production team was coming to film a variety show in their village, hoping how to make the place more prosperous.

Now that the celebrities had arrived, everyone flocked over to catch a glimpse and join the excitement

They’d barely stepped outside the gate before they were instantly mobbed by curious villagers

Alicia was pretty outgoing by nature.

She flashed a friendly smile at the villagers and called out, “Hello, neighbors! Is there anything you need help with

“We’ve been given a task to work in exchange for ingredients, so if you have any chores that need doing, just let us know

The villagers didn’t really recognize the stars, but they were all super welcoming.

One middle-aged woman grinned and said, “Our place could use a good cleaning.

“If you can get it nice and tidy, I’ll hook you up with some ingredients.”

This lady was the classic busybody-always the first to jump into anything exciting.

Getting celebrities to clean her house? She’d be telling that story to everyone in the village.

Alicia checked with the other three to see if they were up for it.

Once everyone agreed, she grinned and said, “Alright, we’ll help out, sis! Thanks for letting us pitch in!”
