Chapter 212
Now, hearing Alicia’s sarcasm, his expression shifted once more.
Caleb opened his mouth to speak, but the words just wouldn’t come.
Just then. Nicole started sobbing out loud and tore the lie detector off.
“This lie detector is obviously busted! You’re all just trying to set me up!” Nicole cried,
She looked at Alicia and insisted, “I don’t hate you! Back then, I honestly wanted us to be real sisters!”
Alicia arched an eyebrow. “So you really can’t handle it now that your true colors are out in the open?
“Blaming the lie detector? Wow, you’ll say anything to make excuses, Nicole.”
She strapped the lie detector onto herself and looked at Landon. “Ask me if I hate Nicole.
Landon asked, “Do you hate Nicole?”
Alicia replied, “I don’t hate her.”
The lie detector beeped and flashed red.
Landon immediately asked again.
This time, Alicia switched it up. “I hate her. I really, really do.”
This time, the lie detector didn’t react at all.
Alicia smirked at Nicole. “So, Nicole, still think this lie detector’s busted?
“Ever since you and your mom started plotting against me, I’ve told everyone straight up-I don’t like either of you.
“And now, I’m saying it live for everyone to hear-I really do hate you and your mom.
“Can you do the same, Nicole?”
She taunted, “Go ahead, strap on the lie detector and say you hate me. Let’s see if it goes off.”
Nicole was so furious at Alicia’s relentless attacks, she wanted nothing more than to tear her apart right then and there.
But there was absolutely no way she was going to say another word with that lie detector strapped on.
If she did, the persona she’d worked so hard to build would come crashing down in an instant.
Suddenly, Nicole jumped up, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Why are you all trying to force me like this?
“I told you I don’t hate her! I really don’t!
“Why do my feelings have to be judged by some soulless machine?
“I don’t trust this thing at all!”
Now everyone knew she wasn’t the real heiress, and she definitely wasn’t all that sweet or innocent.
These last two live shows ended up exposing a ton of Nicole’s personality flaws.
She was always putting on the waterworks, acting all delicate and fake-just like Alicia said, she was the ultimate two-faced hypocrite.
Nobody likes that kind of fake innocent, secretly scheming type anymore.
At Greenpeak Village.
Alicia wasn’t surprised at all when Nicole ran off in tears.
Tears and that fragile vibe were Nicole’s go-to defense-a tool she used to fish for sympathy and affection.
After years of acting weak, it just became part of who she was; she probably didn’t even realize she was doing it half the time.
Honestly, who wouldn’t get sick of someone crying all the time?
Alicia shot Caleb and Nicolas a teasing look, raising an eyebrow. “Your darling sister just ran off bawling. Aren’t you two gonna go chase after her and cheer her up?”
Then she let out a dramatic sigh. “Oops, looks like I made your good sister cry again. Shame on me, huh?”
People couldn’t help but chuckle at that.
Turns out all those tales about Alicia bullying Nicole into tears back at the Hammond family were way overblown.
