Nicolas stood up and said, “Why should I care if she cries herself to a swollen face? That’s her problem.

“I’m going for a walk. You guys have fun.”

Seeing Nicolas leave, Caleb got up too. “I’m heading out for a walk as well.”

Alicia wasn’t about to give them the time of day right now, and he knew it. He needed to seriously think about how to earn her forgiveness.

Trying to comfort Nicole? That wasn’t even on his radar at the moment.

After Nicolas walked out, he told the crew not to follow him with the livestream.

After Nicolas had been walking for a while, his mom called him.

She chewed him out first, then said, “From now on, keep your distance from Nicole. If you let her mess with you again, don’t bother showing your face at the Moore family’s door.”

Nicolas replied, “I promise I’ll stay away from her.”

After a moment’s thought, he said, “Mom, can you get someone to check Nicole out for me?

“I want to know just how much she was fanning the flames between me and Alicia, and if she was up to anything shady behind the scenes.

“Now that I think about it, some stuff just feels way too fishy and suspicious.”

His mom didn’t object. “Alright, I’ll have someone check her out for you.”

She knew it was crucial for Nicolas to see Nicole’s true colors once and for all.

With his mom handling it herself, Nicolas didn’t bother calling his team.

Meanwhile, after Caleb stepped outside, he called his big brother Kevin.

He asked Kevin to really look into Nicole and figure out what she’s been pulling behind their backs.

Kevin had already gotten someone to dig into Nicole and her mom.

After hearing what Caleb said, he couldn’t help but pull up today’s livestream to see for himself.

He spotted the trending hashtag and clicked on it to watch the video.

After watching, he felt like his whole world had just been turned upside down.

After thinking it over, he downloaded the video and saved it.

Once he finished digging up everything on Nicole and her mom, he planned to send it to his dad.

He also told his assistant to step up the investigation on Nicole.

With the three main characters gone, the rest of the crew drifted off as well, and the livestream for the day was over.

Meanwhile, Jett went and knocked on Nicole’s door.

He called out, “Nic, I’m here to check on you. How are you holding up?”

Nicole’s voice came through, thick with tears. “I just want to be alone for a while.”

Jett replied, “Alright, I’ll leave you be.

“I’ll try to get Nicolas and Caleb to come and comfort you later.”

With that, he walked away.

Nicole, who’d been keeping an eye on things outside, felt her face darken.

‘Seriously? That jerk actually just left?

‘I said I wanted to be alone, but couldn’t he at least insist on coming in to keep me company?’ she huffed, even more annoyed.

Her thoughts were all over the place right now, worried sick that Nicolas and Caleb would start suspecting her. And if her stepdad ever caught wind of this, she was terrified he’d totally change the way he treated her.

Nicole called her mom right away.

But her mom was at the hospital with Nicole’s stepdad, so she couldn’t answer the phone.

“Damn Alicia! She’s already ditched the family for good—so why does she still have to mess with me?

“That suggestion for the Truth or Dare game? Probably Alicia and Jason teamed up to set me up with that.

‘And Jason. Right, him too,’ she reminded herself.

She needed to find a chance to get close to Jason and deliberately create some misunderstandings between him and Alicia.

As long as Jason stopped siding with Alicia, she could try to turn the tables in the next livestream.

She walked over to the window and just kept staring outside, not letting anything slip by.

Her luck wasn’t too bad—after about half an hour, she saw Jason wheeling himself out the front gate in his wheelchair.

She figured this was the perfect chance to cozy up to Jason and act all pitiful.

She thought she had it all worked out, but she never expected Jason to be so unsporting—and so quick to dodge her.

Instead, she wiped out hard and ended up flat on the ground, totally embarrassed.

But since things had already gone south, all she could do was try to play it off.

She winced and rubbed her foot, pretending it hurt, then sat herself down on the ground.

Then she looked up at Jason, eyes full of tears and embarrassment. “M-Mr. Farrell…”

She stammered, totally flustered. “W-What are you doing here?”

She acted all surprised, like she had no clue he’d be there.

Jason’s eyes were cold as he sneered, “You ran straight at me, trying to throw yourself into my arms. And you want me to believe you didn’t know I was here?”

Nicole hadn’t expected Jason to be so direct about it—and to see right through her little act.

She put on a look of disbelief. “Seriously, how could you think that of me?

“I was just so heartbroken, crying, and I ran out into the dark without even looking where I was going. I really didn’t expect to almost bump into you.”

Jason raised an eyebrow. “Are you blind or what? I’m sitting right under the lights. Even if it’s dark, you should’ve been able to see a living, breathing person like me here.”

Jason had zero tolerance for Nicole—he was downright disgusted by her.

Especially since she was trying to scheme against him, he didn’t feel the need to be civil at all.

Nicole choked on his words, totally caught off guard.

She’d always figured that a cold, brainy CEO like Jason might not be the warmest guy, but he’d at least know how to act like a gentleman.

Jason said, “I’m not like Nicolas or the Hammond brothers—I won’t fall for your tears or feel sorry for you.

“Tears might be your weapon, but you gotta pick your target.

“Honestly, the way you’re crying right now looks totally fake to me.

“If you think you can play me like you did them, you’re gonna be disappointed. My eyes are wide open—I see right through you.”
