Chapter 37
Everyone present fell silent.
No one had expected Nicolas and Maxwell to act like this.
Alicia had just called them out for being hypocritical and two-faced. Still, instead of getting angry, they were practically begging for her forgiveness.
It completely shattered everyone’s perception of the two men.
If they hadn’t seen Nicolas and Maxwell trash-talk Felicity earlier, they would’ve thought the pair had suddenly become saints.
The livestream viewers were just as stunned.
[LOL, is this not ass-kissing enough for you?]
[They’re really going all out. LMAO.]
[Something’s definitely off about how they treat Alicia.]
[I’m starting to think they knew each other before this. The way they talk to her feels way too familiar.]
[And not just casual acquaintances either. With their tempers, they would’ve exploded by now otherwise.]
[These two are in such an awkward position, trying to spoil the princess on one hand and suck up to Alicia on the other.]
Nicolas and Maxwell’s fans stared at their screens in stunned silence.
These two are absolutely pathetic, one fan thought as she typed furiously in the chat. ‘Can’t they just be cold and aloof for once? Stop being so damn whipped!”
Another fan thought, ‘Seriously, Maxwell, where’s that attitude you used to have? Bring back the bad boy!’
Nicole’s fans went quiet, too. ‘Wait, wasn’t she supposed to be the only one they pampered?’ someone wondered. ‘What the hell are these two doing now?’
Nicole had wanted to provoke Alicia, and it had worked.
Alicia had been provoked enough that she publicly mocked Nicolas and Maxwell to their faces.
But Nicole hadn’t expected this outcome.
Based on their past behavior, even if Nicolas and Maxwell didn’t say anything harsh to Alicia, they definitely wouldn’t be smiling and trying to cozy up to her after getting insulted like this.
Usually, the three of them would argue and then give each other the cold shoulder.
Nicole had originally thought that as long as Nicolas and Maxwell fought with Alicia, her goal would be achieved.
But now the opposite had happened, and it made her look even more awkward.
Anyone listening could tell that Alicia’s sarcasm included her, too.
The key problem was that Nicolas and Maxwell actually said they believed in Alicia’s abilities and that she could mentor any traince.
“What’s that supposed to mean? That I’m not as good as Alicia? Nicole thought.
If they weren’t still live-streaming, she really would have burst into tears to show them how hurt and wronged she felt. She was so frustrated.
Alicia looked at Nicolas and Maxwell with a half-smile. She said, “To use Ms. Sterling’s words, you two are being so two-faced right now, and it’s honestly disappointing
Nicolas and Maxwell bit their tongue.
Felicity stayed silent too, but she couldn’t help thinking. Can you please stop dragging me into this?
The trainees present wanted to laugh but had to hold it in.
The viewers watching the livestream didn’t hold back at all.
[A classic Ms. Sterling quote is born.]
[I’m dying, Alicia is savage.]
[Alicia, if you’ve got it, say more!]
This time, even Maxwell and Nicolas’ fans didn’t want to say anything.
They wanted to defend them, but their idols weren’t helping themselves at all.
Chase was enjoying the drama when Nicolas shot him a sharp look.
He got the message loud and clear-Nicolas wanted him to wrap this up and give everyone an out.
He turned to Alicia and asked, “So what’s your team’s take on this?”
Alicia shrugged. “The first three teams already agreed to switch to the first lottery method. Even if our group objects, it won’t change anything, right?
“If they think it’s fairer, I’m fine with that,” she said, then added with pointed emphasis, “After all, Team 2 and I picked the first method from the start anyway.”
She paused, letting that sink in. “But I do have one requirement.”
He went straight to proposing a solution. “Let’s redraw. Team 4’s trainees go first. After they’re done, we’ll add Team 1 back in and continue.”
This way, both Nicole and Alicia could save face, and they wouldn’t have to be stuck in the middle anymore.
But what he didn’t know was that Nicole felt so wronged right now she wanted to cry.
‘What are they doing?’ she thought. ‘Whatever Alicia says goes? Then what was the point of me asking them for help earlier? I feel like such a joke. Where’s the exclusive favoritism they promised to show everyone?’
Nicole wanted them to fight with Alicia directly, like they used to, not grovel and try to make peace with her.
‘What’s going on?’ she thought, and the feeling that something had slipped out of her control made her uneasy.
Nicole had no idea that Alicia had already told Nicolas and Maxwell she was cutting ties with them.
That was why Nicolas and Maxwell were terrified of pushing Alicia too far and losing any chance to fix things.
After all, they’d never seen her this cold and resolute before.
Simon and Hannah couldn’t help but admire Alicia right now.
She really had guts, saying all this on a live stream.
But then again, her reputation was already trashed, so she probably didn’t care if Nicolas’ fans or anyone else came after her.
They’d been the ones tearing her apart the most anyway.
Simon said, “Our team’s fine with whatever.”
The viewers jumped on that immediately. [Simon’s group is totally just going with the flow.]
[Simon and Hannah are having the time of their lives watching this drama. Every time they have to choose, they’re like ‘we’re good with anything.”]
[I caught them eating this up earlier, too.]
[Now the problem’s back in Team I’s lap.]
[I bet Nicole’s gonna say she’s fine with it too. She’s been playing the good guy this whole time.]
[I noticed that too. She never gets her hands dirty.]
Everyone turned to look at Nicole, waiting for her answer.
