“Alright. Shall I give you the tour now, Ms. Hamilton?” Bruce finally spoke up, ready to lead Arabella further inside.
“Please.”
“This is our primary research and development lab, Ms. Hamilton. The team here is focused on developing new pharmaceutical compounds,” Bruce explained as they walked.
“I see. The setup seems functional,” Arabella acknowledged.
Bruce guided her deeper into the space. “And over here, Ms. Hamilton, this is our main testing lab.
“Every new formulation goes through rigorous analysis here before moving forward.”
“The workflow appears sound, though the physical space does feel somewhat constrained,” Arabella observed, her eyes taking in the cramped aisles.
Bruce nodded, impressed. “You have a keen eye, Ms. Hamilton, to spot that so quickly.
“To be honest, the R&D wing is quite tight. The team often has to coordinate movements carefully to avoid bumping into each other when handling equipment or samples.
“Even with the best planning, minor collisions still happen occasionally.” Since Arabella had identified the issue, Bruce saw no reason to downplay it.
“Was this limitation not raised as a concern before?” Arabella asked, looking at him with curiosity.
“I raised the staffing issue repeatedly, but Justin simply wouldn’t approve additional hires. There was little more I could do.
“Fortunately, you arrived and resolved that critical problem.
“As for the lab space itself… that never felt like a request I could formally make. The company only has so much square footage overall. It wouldn’t be right to ask other departments to sacrifice their area for ours.” Bruce offered a pragmatic, good–natured smile.
Arabella noted that Bruce understood the company’s broader limitations and was reasonable about his expectations.
She gave a slight nod of approval. “I’m aware of the challenges facing your department. They

Bruce was momentarily taken aback. Is Ms. Hamilton implying she will also find a solution for our cramped quarters? If she could manage that, it would be incredible!
“Let me walk you out, Ms. Hamilton,” Bruce said, his face bright with a hopeful smile as he escorted her back to the hallway.
“Bruce, if you need anything and can’t reach me directly, contact Chloe. She’ll know how to proceed.” With that, Arabella turned and left.
“Have a good day, Ms. Hamilton,” Bruce called after her, waiting until she was out of sight before returning to the lab with a renewed sense of energy.
“Chloe, please monitor the follow–up actions from the meeting. I have other matters to attend to,” Arabella instructed back in her office.
“Yes, Ms. Hamilton.”
Arabella got into her car and drove to her private pharmaceutical production facility. She collected the prepared medication for Robert. Initially, she considered delivering it to Matthew immediately, but after checking the time, she decided a hospital visit the following day would be more appropriate.
She placed the medicine in her car and drove directly back to Cloudrise Manor.
As she turned into the estate’s driveway, she spotted Naomi and Ruby standing near a parked vehicle. She pulled up, turned off the engine, and stepped out.
“What are you two looking at?” Arabella asked.
Naomi glanced toward her. “Arabella, come see. Ethan had this car delivered for you.”
Hearing this, Arabella walked over to inspect it. “Ethan’s efficiency is remarkable. He said he’d have it here by evening, and he did.”
“Arabella, this car looks so… worn. Is Ethan taking back the sports car he gave you and swapping it for this piece of junk?” Ruby sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. She would never be caught dead in such a nondescript vehicle.
“You wouldn’t understand. I specifically asked for a car like this,” Arabella said, perfectly satisfied with the modest, low–profile sedan. After a brief look, she headed toward the main
entrance.
Watching her walk away, Ruby wrinkled her nose in confusion and continued her mockery.

“Naomi, tell me, is there something wrong with Arabella? Why on earth would she want a car like that?”
“She must be out of her mind.” Naomi couldn’t fathom the choice either.
“Oh, I heard her brother from the Macdonald family is ill and in the hospital. What’s the latest with the Macdonalds, anyway?” Naomi asked, recalling the gossip casually.
“From what I hear, the Macdonald family is beyond saving now. The whole clan is holed up in their last remaining property, completely insolvent.”
“It’s frankly pathetic,” Ruby said, her tone full of scorn.
“Is that so? I suppose Arabella has been visiting the hospital every day lately to see her brother,” Naomi speculated.
“Naomi, how has your studying been going these past few days?” Ruby asked. She had been preoccupied lately and hadn’t kept Naomi company.
“Not bad. I’ve grasped the fundamentals,” Naomi replied coolly.
“You’re so impressive, Naomi! Learning so much in just a few days. You absolutely have to teach me,” Ruby gushed, linking her arm through Naomi’s.
“Alright, I’ll show you
later.”
“Let’s head inside as well,” Naomi suggested.
“Yeah, there’s nothing more to see with that car.” Ruby threw one last contemptuous glance at the sedan before she and Naomi walked arm–in–arm into the manor.
Inside the grand living room, Florence took Arabella’s hand, her face etched with concern. “Arabella, darling, Ethan just had a very… ordinary car delivered. What’s the meaning of this?”
“It’s fine, Mom. I requested it myself. I prefer to maintain a lower profile,” Arabella explained patiently.
“Oh, I see. Well, if that’s what you prefer.
“Arabella, I heard there’s a lovely art exhibition tomorrow. Would you have time to accompany me?” Florence looked at her daughter hopefully.
