Soon, Matthew’s car arrived at the entrance to the exhibition center.

“Mr. Stewart, this is the location Ms. Hamilton shared,” Andy said from the driver’s seat.
“I’ll go in and find her momentarily,” Andy offered.
“No need. Wait here,” Matthew replied, pushing the car door open. His gaze swept across the building’s facade before he strode purposefully inside.
So, Arabella had time to wander through an exhibition instead of promptly delivering his medicine? He was curious to see what could possibly be so engrossing.
At that moment, the exhibition director was conversing with a prominent donor when he noticed a tall, commanding figure enter through the main doors. A closer look made his heart skip a beat–it was Matthew!
His face paled slightly. He quickly excused himself from the conversation and hurried over, his demeanor instantly shifting to one of utmost respect.
“Mr. Stewart, my sincerest apologies. We were not informed of your visit and failed to receive you properly,” the director said, ushering Matthew inside with deference.
“It’s of no consequence,” Matthew responded coolly, giving the man only a brief glance before his
eyes continued to scan the spacious hall.
The director followed carefully beside him, noticing Matthew seemed to be searching for someone. “Mr. Stewart, might you be looking for someone in particular?” he ventured cautiously.
After a moment of scanning the crowd without spotting Arabella, Matthew finally spoke, “Where is the Hamilton party?”
Hearing he was looking for the Hamiltons, the director immediately assumed he meant Florence. “Right this way.”
Led by the director, Matthew soon approached the area where Florence and Arabella were viewing a collection of art deco pieces.
“Mrs. Hamilton, Mr. Stewart has arrived to see you,” the director announced.
Hearing her name, Florence turned. Surprise flickered across her features.

“Mrs. Hamilton,” he greeted her with a polite nod.
Delight flared in her eyes, unbidden. “Matthew?”
“Were you looking for me?” she asked, a polite, puzzled smile on her face.

“I came for Arabella,” Matthew replied, a trace of impatience in his tone as his gaze finally settled on the young woman beside her.
“Oh, for Arabella,” Florence said, her face instantly brightening with a knowing smile. She then gave her daughter a meaningful look. “Arabella, you chat with Matthew. I’ll go see the pieces in the next gallery.”
Arabella immediately sensed the misunderstanding. “Mom, there’s no need for you to leave. He’s just here to collect the medication.”
Florence’s smile remained gentle and knowing. “I understand. No need to explain.”
Explain what? I’m merely stating a fact–Matthew really is only here for the medicine!
Arabella stood there momentarily speechless.
Florence turned back to Matthew, her tone warmly hospitable. “Please, take your time.”
Seeing the misunderstanding deepen, Arabella became even more determined to clarify. She quickly caught her mother’s wrist and whispered, “Mom, what ‘take your time‘? Please don’t say things like that.”
She then turned a composed smile toward Matthew. “Please don’t misunderstand. My mother was simply being courteous.”
Florence, noting Arabella’s hold on her, only smiled more brightly. She gently patted her daughter’s hand. “Alright, dear, I understand. Don’t keep Matthew waiting.” With that, she gracefully walked away.
Left with little recourse, Arabella offered Matthew an awkward smile.
Matthew, however, looked at her with clear displeasure. “Where is the medicine?”
He had thought there might be something of genuine interest here, but the galleries were filled with nothing but luxury goods and predictable art. What was so compelling about that?
“Just a moment, I have it right here,” Arabella said, noticing his stern expression. She lowered her head and began searching through her handbag.

Meanwhile, Naomi approached, looking pleased as she carried a small, elegantly wrapped box.
“Mom, I saw the most exquisite pendant. I immediately thought it would suit you perfectly. I do hope you like it,” Naomi said, her expression one of affectionate consideration as she presented the gift.
Florence accepted the box and opened it, her eyes lighting up with genuine appreciation. “Naomi, you have such a good eye. This is truly lovely.”
Seeing Florence’s delight, Naomi’s smile widened. “Let me help you put it on.”
“Alright, dear,” Florence agreed.
Standing beside them, Ruby seized the moment to add her praise. “Aunt Florence, it looks absolutely stunning on you. The pendant complements your ensemble today perfectly.
“Naomi understands your taste so well. The gifts she chooses for you are always the most fitting.”
“You certainly know how to flatter,” Florence said with an amused laugh.
“Aunt Florence, it’s not mere flattery,” Ruby insisted, seeing an opportunity to bolster Naomi further. “Naomi didn’t buy a single thing for herself the entire time. But the moment she saw this pendant, she said, ‘Mom will adore this,‘ and insisted on getting it for you.”
As Ruby was singing Naomi’s praises, Naomi’s own gaze drifted and accidentally landed on a familiar, imposing figure not far away.
Matthew? What is he doing here?
A flash of surprise crossed Naomi’s eyes the moment she recognized him.
Florence, noticing her distraction, smiled and explained. “He came to see Arabella.”
As she spoke, Florence glanced at her reflection in a nearby decorative mirror, looking content. “Naomi, your taste is impeccable, truly.”
Suppressing a sudden surge of inner excitement, Naomi turned to Florence. “I’m just happy you like it, Mom. If you’ll excuse me, I should go and greet Mr. Stewart properly.”
