Edward, still in bed, was growing increasingly agitated. He wanted to reason with Freya, but she wouldn’t listen, and he felt too ashamed to ask Arabella for understanding after his family had treated her this way.
What could he do now?
Thinking quickly, he sent an urgent text to Carter.
Carter was on his way home, chatting on the phone with a friend, when he saw Edward’s message and learned about the commotion. He immediately ended the call and sped toward the house.
Meanwhile, several household staff had arrived at Edward’s room as Freya had instructed.
Freya looked coldly at Arabella and Ethan. “If you leave now, I’ll let this go.
“Otherwise, I’ll have you both removed.”
Ethan glanced at the staff dismissively, completely unimpressed.
But Edward pleaded anxiously, “Mom, just let them go. This is my room, and I won’t allow you to hurt Arabella or her brother.”
He was determined to protect them.
Freya shot Edward an exasperated look. “Have you lost your senses because of your illness? Can’t you tell who your real family is? Not another word.”
Then, seeing that Ethan and Arabella hadn’t moved, she turned to the staff. “Remove them.”
The staff stepped forward, reaching for Ethan and Arabella.
Smirking, Harper quickly moved near the window to avoid the scuffle, eager to watch Arabella get humiliated.
Just as a staff member was about to lay hands on Ethan, Ethan kicked him back with a single swift motion.
Freya jumped in alarm and hurried closer to Harper, both their faces showing shock.
They hadn’t expected Ethan to know how to handle himself.
Edward was equally surprised but also felt a wave of relief.

Seeing Ethan dispatch the man so easily, Arabella’s eyes flickered with mild surprise–she hadn’t known Ethan had such skills.
“Useless! Can’t even handle one young man?” Freya barked from near the window.
Angered by her scolding, the remaining staff rushed at Ethan together.
Ethan sidestepped their grab, evading their reach, and within moments had swept their legs out from under them with a series of sharp, controlled kicks…
The staff groaned, clutching sore spots, but scrambled up to charge again.
Just then, Carter arrived home.
Getting out of his car, he glanced up toward Edward’s window and caught sight of two familiar figures–Freya and Harper.
Without hesitation, he headed quickly upstairs.
As he approached, he heard the sounds of struggle coming from Edward’s room.
“Enough! Stop this at once!”
A moment later, Carter appeared in the doorway.
Everyone turned at the sound of his voice.
“Dad, Arabella brought someone here to start trouble,” Harper said, rushing into Carter’s
arms.
Carter patted her back. “It’s alright. I’m here now
Then he surveyed the scene.
The household staff were on the floor, groaning A stranger–handsome and composed- stood beside Arabella, calmly straightening his tie.
“Get up. All of you–out,” Carter ordered sternly
He took a deep breath, frowning as he studied the unfamiliar man. So this was the one who had taken down several staff members.
This clearly wasn’t someone ordinary.
His gaze then shifted to Arabella. “Why are you back? And causing trouble with a stranger in tow?”

“Arabella came to bring me my medication. This is her brother,” Edward answered quickly, hoping to prevent another clash.
Hearing this, Carter frowned and looked Ethan ever more carefully.
This was Arabella’s brother? Dressed in a bespoke suit like that?
From his investigation, Arabella’s new family were supposed to be unemployed drifters. But the man in front of him carried himself with nothing of the sort.
What was really going on?
“Even if he’s her brother, he can’t come into our home and assault people! Carter, look what he’s done to the staff,” Freya said, stepping to Carter’s side, emboldened now that he was here.
“Your staff moved first. We were defending ourselves,” Arabella replied coolly, her eyes steady on Freya.
Carter looked at Arabella with clear displeasure. If you came to deliver medicine, you shouldn’t have brought someone who causes violence. Not even your brother has that right.
“Arabella, you’re forgetting your manners more and more,” Carter added, his tone full of reproach without bothering to hear the full story.
Arabella met his gaze coolly. She knew he would blame her blindly, without seeking the truth. Explaining was pointless–he wouldn’t be fair.
“The one who’s forgotten manners has never been me. It’s your wife and your daughter. And I don’t carry your name anymore–you have no right to question me.”
“You! How dare you speak to me like that. All these years raising you were a waste,” Carter snapped, his face flushing with anger.
Arabella ignored him and turned to Ethan, her voice softening with concern. “Ethan, are you hurt?”
