Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings novel Chapter 153

Chapter 153: Yes. I’ll Go With You

Morning light spilled through the window when Finn knocked on her door. Lilith was already awake, already dressed, sitting on the edge of her bed with her hands folded in her lap. She hadn’t slept much. She hadn’t expected to.

"Alpha Nicholas is ready for you," Finn said gently.

She nodded and stood, smoothing her dress out of habit. There was no trembling this time. She’d cried herself out the night before, sitting with her mother, sitting with the memory of her father. Whatever fear remained had settled into something quieter now, not gone, but manageable. More like a decision made.

The walk to Nicholas’s room felt shorter than it had a night ago. She didn’t need time to think anymore. She’d already done her thinking, in the dark, with her mother’s hand in hers.

Finn knocked once. Nicholas’s voice came immediately. "Enter."

She stepped inside. All three brothers were there again, though the arrangement was different this time. Nicholas stood near the window instead of sitting in his chair. Sebastian leaned against the edge of his desk. Lucian sat on the sofa, but he wasn’t sprawled the way he usually was, he sat forward, elbows on his knees, watching the door like he’d been waiting there all night.

The door closed behind her. Silence settled over the room.

"Lilith," Nicholas said, his voice quieter than she remembered. Less commanding. Almost careful. "You have your answer for us."

It wasn’t a question, but she answered anyway, because she needed to say it herself. She needed it to come from her.

"Yes." She lifted her chin. "I’ll go with you."

The room seemed to exhale around her. She watched something shift in Nicholas’s shoulders, a tension she hadn’t even realized was there until it released. Sebastian’s expression softened. Lucian’s hands, which had been clenched loosely on his knees, opened.

"I’m not saying yes because I believe everything you told me," she continued, her voice steady despite the way her heart pounded. "I’m saying yes because I don’t have another option, and we both know that. But I want you to understand something." She looked between all three of them. "I’m choosing to walk into this with my eyes open. Not because you gave me a choice. Because I’m making one anyway, even inside the corner you’ve put me in."

Nicholas studied her for a long moment. "That’s fair," he said finally.

"I thought about my father last night," she said, before she could stop herself. "About what he would think of all this. He used to tell me the Moon Goddess doesn’t make mistakes. That there was a reason for things, even when I couldn’t see it." Her voice wavered slightly. "I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t know if it applies here. But I decided I’d rather walk toward whatever this is than spend the rest of my life wondering what would have happened if I’d fought it."

Sebastian pushed off from the desk and crossed the room toward her. He didn’t reach for her face this time. He simply stood close, his presence steady rather than overwhelming. "Thank you," he said quietly. "For choosing this."

"I still have questions," she said. "About the investigation. About what happens when we get to Blackwood. About what this....bond, actually means for someone like me."
