Chapter 176 They Are Mine Forever
In the blink of an eye, the guards waiting outside rushed into the room.

The masked assassin paid them no mind at all. He strode straight over to Christopher and landed another fierce kick square to his stomach.
Christopher let out a sharp cry of pain, nearly spitting up blood.
He snapped in a rage, “How dare you! All of you, move in and seize him!”
Several guards charged toward the assassin at once.
The masked man had no intention of lingering. After kicking Christopher, he flipped over the window ledge and jumped outside.
A stream of guards followed him out the window, one after another. Roy hurried over belatedly and helped Christopher to his feet. “Are you all right, Crown Prince Christopher?”
Christopher gritted his teeth. “Forget me. Go after him at once.”
Roy hesitated. “The assassin appeared out of nowhere. He may have accomplices lying in wait. I’d better stay by your side to protect you.”
Christopher’s face twisted with fury. “Damn it! This must be the same assassin from before. It’s definitely him! He attacks me, then tries to run off–he won’t get away with this easily.”
Roy supported him carefully. “It doesn’t seem to be the same man. The last assassin left you badly injured, bruised, and battered. This one’s skill is clearly far inferior. He only kicked you once, then fled right away. He knows staying longer would get him caught.”
Christopher shot him a fierce glare. “What are you trying to say? One kick is not enough to harm me?”
Roy hurried to explain, “That’s not what I meant at all.”
Christopher seethed with anger. “If I weren’t poisoned, with constant dull aches in my arm and lingering soreness in my legs, would I have let him catch me off guard?“\
Roy bowed respectfully. “I’ll send men to search every corner at once. We will capture the assassin for
sure.”
He paused, then added cautiously, “By the way, Ms. Campbell was here just a moment ago.”
Christopher’s expression turned icy in an instant. “Don’t mention her. I said everything I could, both kind and harsh, yet she didn’t budge an inch. She even turned down my attempts to make amends. I can’t fathom what’s going through her mind.”
Roy hung his head quietly, knowing full well what Christopher was like.
Proud, arrogant, and obsessed with his own dignity.
He’s never once bowed his head to anyone growing up. For him to humble himself before a young lady like Margaret

must have cost him greatly.

Roy had thought that with only the two of them alone in the private room, Christopher would surely win her over.
But why did Margaret remain completely unmoved even after he lowered himself to apologize?
Roy murmured tentatively, “Could it be Ms. Campbell has truly fallen for someone else?”
Christopher ground his teeth. “She belongs to me. She has no right to set her heart on another.”
Roy said carefully, “She was once your betrothed, yes, but everyone knows your engagement has been officially dissolved now.”
“Even with the engagement broken, she’s still mine,” Christopher insisted stubbornly. “She was the one betrothed to me, the one who stayed by my side all those years. In my heart, she’s always belonged to me. She can never love anyone else. Her heart, her person–they are mine forever.”
The more he spoke, the angrier he grew. “How dare she turn me down? How could she refuse me? She’d rather jump out a window and run away than accept me. How could she do this?”
Roy stared at Christopher’s nearly unraveled state, utterly stunned.
It’s almost as if he is the one who can’t let go of Margaret now.
Is it sheer possessiveness? Or has Margaret’s rejection wounded his pride as Crown Prince?
No woman has ever dared turn him down in all his life–least of all someone who was once plain and overlooked, someone who once clung to his side so eagerly.
By the time Margaret limped back to Sweet Breeze Dining, dusk had already fallen.
Seeing her disheveled and injured appearance, Lisa rushed over at once, helped her to a seat, and looked at her worriedly. “Ms, Campbell, what happened to you?”
Margaret replied calmly, “It’s nothing. I just twisted my ankle by accident. Go fetch a basin of warm water for me.”
Lisa hurried to do as she was told.
After wiping her leg lightly, Margaret endured the dull pain and set her dislocated bone back into place with one precise movement.
A faint click echoed through the room, and Lisa’s eyes welled up with sympathy. “How did you get hurt so badly? You went to treat Mr. Kingston today, didn’t you? Did someone there mistreat you?”
“It’s really nothing, just a small mishap, I’m fine now,” Margaret said.
She really was fully recovered already—able to stand, walk, even jump without the slightest discomfort.
Lisa stared at her. “You never take good care of yourself, Ms. Campbell. Let me stay by your side to look after you. I don’t have any great skills, but I’m good at waiting on others. I’ve taken care of my family since I was little. My parents always praised me for being thoughtful and attentive.”
