Chapter 175 Jumped Out of the Window

A sudden thought crossed Christopher’s mind, and he lunged forward to wrap his arms tightly around Margaret.
He said, “I’ve got a way, Margaret. Let’s seal our fate now. Once that happens, you’ll have no choice but to marry me. Even Father will have no option but to revoke his decree. Mother has always liked you, and she’ll accept you again in no time.”
Margaret’s heart jolted in alarm, and she struggled fiercely to push him away.
Yet he held her fast, his tone growing rough and heated. “You really have slimmed down. I never realized your waist is far slimmer than Stella’s.”
Margaret struggled against him. “Let go of me, Crown Prince Christopher. Our engagement is already
broken off.”
Christopher refused to listen. “That decree means nothing. It doesn’t count at all.”
He pinned her flailing hands firmly against the door, his eyes bloodshot as he spoke each word slowly. “You were always meant to be my Crown Princess. We were young and ignorant of love back then, but
now…”
Margaret snapped sharply, “Let me go.”
She lifted her foot and kicked him hard in the groin.
Christopher’s face twisted in pain, and he finally loosened his hold.
Margaret seized the chance to dart aside at once. “Crown Prince Christopher, calm yourself. Our engagement is over for good. Even if we rushed into something irreversible, I would never have feelings for you again.”
Christopher straightened up slowly after a long moment, “I don’t believe you. You’ve always loved me. Why do you keep running away? Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”
The kick hadn’t landed perfectly, and soon, Christopher walked toward her again as if nothing had happened.
He said, “Don’t run from me, Margaret. I know you still have feelings for me.”
Margaret said sharply, dropping his formal title entirely, “Christopher, show some self–respect.”
He paid no heed to her anger, pressing closer step by step. “To be honest, I’ve always had you in my heart. I still see you as that young girl who loved me most. Now that I’m willing to accept you again, shouldn’t you be happy?”
Margaret backed away slowly, an acupuncture needle appearing in her hand.
If there’s no other way out, I’ll have to knock him out and escape.
Christopher said, “I never knew how many grievances you held inside until today. It wasn’t until you said

you didn’t love me anymore that I realized my own feelings for you. We truly loved each other once. Don’t run away from me, please?”
He kept advancing, forcing Margaret until her back pressed against something solid–not a wall, but a window ledge.
She stole a quick glance outside. They were on the second floor, not far from the ground below.
A narrow alley stretched beneath the window, quiet and empty with no passersby in sight.
“Once you’re mine, no one and nothing can stand between us anymore.” Christopher’s voice turned persuasive. “I promise I’ll delay my wedding to Stella. She’ll only ever be a Royal Consort—she can never threaten your position.”
He stepped right in front of her, reaching out to pull her into his arms. In an instant, Margaret climbed onto the window ledge instead.
Christopher’s eyes widened in shock. “Margaret, are you really that desperate to run from me?”
“Do you want the plain truth?” Margaret stared at him with cold disdain. “You disgust me, Christopher.”
With that, she jumped out of the window without a moment’s hesitation.
A cold wind swept over her as she fell, and she hit the ground hard in the blink of an eye.
A faint crack came from her ankle, like a bone slipping out of place. Sharp pain shot through her, and she gasped aloud.
Christopher rushed to the window in a frenzy, only to meet Margaret’s eyes filled with pure loathing.
She shot him one icy glare, then struggled to her feet and limped slowly down the alley.
Christopher stared after her in stunned rage. “Margaret, are you serious?”
Kind words and force both failed completely, Could she really have fallen out of love with me for good?
I was willing to take her back–wasn’t this everything she’d ever hoped for? Why would she turn me down like this?
A storm of tangled emotions raged inside him, pushing him close to fury.
He’d even seen clear disgust written all over her face.
That look of revulsion stabbed at his heart for a split second.
