Chapter 189 The Most Famed Assassin

People had always lined up to offer Darren gifts of thanks. No one had ever heard of him going out of his way to thank another, let alone deliver a lavish reward himself.
Amid Timothy’s stunned daze, Margaret spoke calmly. “Tell him to head back. It was only a small favor; there’s no need for such ceremony.”
The servant looked troubled. “Mr. Kingston’s men have already carried the crate inside, and he’s waiting personally in the main hall. He insists you come meet him so he may thank you in person.”
Margaret sighed inwardly.
Mr. Kingston is truly overdoing this. Being saved is fortunate enough, no need for such fanfare.
She turned to Timothy. “Father, since we have an honored guest calling, I shall go attend to him first.”
Without waiting for his reply, she left at once. Once she was far enough away, she let out a quiet breath of relief.
The original girl’s father is so tedious.
The whole family is all tiresome chatterboxes.
Timothy watched her retreating figure, feeling utterly awkward and out of sorts.
All those lectures I just gave sound ridiculous now. How embarrassing.
“Father, why are you standing here alone?” Stella’s voice rang out.
Timothy snapped back to his senses and glanced at her. “Has the swelling on your face gone down?”
Stella hung her head. “I used many rare medicinal herbs to heal it. It’s finally back to normal now. Though the swelling had faded before, there was still a faint red mark. I still don’t understand why Margaret hates me so deeply…”
“Enough. Let the past stay in the past,” Timothy waved it off. “Do you know who Margaret is going to meet now?”
Stella’s expression darkened at once, “Is she off to see Prince Theodore again so late in the evening?”
“No,” Timothy said. “It’s Mr. Kingston himself, come to thank her with a full crate of gifts. I once thought she had no redeeming qualities at all, but it seems she has quietly surpassed you now.”
He shook his head faintly. “You ought to learn from her and strive to improve yourself.”
Stella’s hands clenched tightly at her sides, her face turning gloomy with suppressed jealousy. “You are right, Father. I will study hard from Margaret and better myself.”
Timothy nodded. “Very well. It’s growing dark. Stop wandering about and go rest.”
He popped two more grapes into his mouth and turned to leave.

Watching his departing back, Stella seethed with rage. “I’ve always been the one she should look up to. Since when do I have to learn from her? Who does she think she is?”
Nadia whispered beside her, “He has been eating nonstop lately, just like Margaret used to. If this keeps up, he’ll grow fat sooner or later, and the secret of your poisoning Margaret will be exposed.”
Stella snapped angrily, “If you know that, hurry and find the antidote! What else am I supposed to do now?
“Everything is that wretched girl’s fault. She should be the one growing fat and ugly. Instead, she grows slimmer by the day, while I have become bald. She’s won Prince Theodore’s favor, while I’ve lost my chance at being Crown Princess. All of this is her doing. I’ll kill her. I absolutely will.”
Nadia lowered her voice. “Rest assured. We’ve already hired the most famed assassin in the realm.”
At those words, Stella’s temper eased slightly. “You’re right. Margaret is doomed.”
Margaret had arrived at the main hall.
Darren had been waiting for quite a while. The moment he saw her, he stepped forward with a warm
