Rejected by the Crown Prince? I Married His Uncle
Chapter 208 No Need for Such Petty Worries

Christopher snapped angrily, “Besides, the banquet is grand today–nearly every official in the court will attend the palace. Lords and generals of high rank may even bring their entire families, and Mother has given her permission for it. With so many nobles present, do you really think Uncle Theodore would set aside all propriety to come fetch you personally?
“If he brought you into the palace right in front of the whole court, rumors would run wild about the two of you. Even he wouldn’t dare risk that scandal. I’m the only one who remains devoted to you. Be reasonable. Let the broken engagement be forgotten. Come to the palace with me today, and I will personally beg Father to restore our betrothal before every official present. Everything can go back to how
it was.”
His bold words spoken openly in public left everyone nearby stunned and speechless.
Jasper stared at him in disbelief. “Crown Prince Christopher, you still intend to marry Margaret?”
“I always meant to make her my Crown Princess,” Christopher said. “Our falling–out was just a petty quarrel. Now we’re making amends…”
“What about me?” Stella asked tearfully.
He looked flustered and overwhelmed. “You will be my Royal Consort, and she my Crown Princess- nothing changes from what we agreed before. Didn’t you once say you only care for my heart, not formal titles?”
Stella was struck dumb by his words, frozen silent inside the carriage with no reply to give.
Before anyone could speak, Margaret pushed him away firmly.
She said, “You’re being irrational, Crown Prince Christopher. An ended engagement stays ended. King Spencer has already issued a royal decree to dissolve our betrothal. Please respect the king’s will. More than that, I have no desire whatsoever to become Crown Princess.”
At Margaret’s blunt declaration, every pair of eyes turned to her in shock.
No one could believe the scene unfolding.
Margaret had actually rejected Christopher openly in the street–and outright said she had no wish to be Crown Princess.
Luckily, the area was lined with palace guards and servants, with few commoners lingering nearby. Those who watched from a distance dared not draw close.
Even so, Christopher burned with embarrassment. “Margaret, do you have any idea what you’re saying?”
“Could it be your ears fail you?” Margaret said calmly. “I’ll say it plainly once more–I have no interest in being Crown Princess. Stop pestering me. The one you claim to love is already waiting for you in your carriage.”
“Enough!” Christopher’s eyes widened in shame and rage.

She’d given him no shred of dignity in front of onlookers.
“Margaret, you have quite the nerve,” he sneered.

Margaret stepped back a good distance. “Keep your hands to yourself. There is nothing left between us.”
“Fine. Very well.” Christopher let out a cold, bitter laugh, masking his embarrassment with fury. “Do you think any man in this realm would dare marry you after rejecting me? Do you think you’ll even have a carriage to the palace today? I dare say no one will offer you a ride.”
He shot Jasper a fierce warning glare as he spoke.
Just then, a luxuriously decorated carriage rolled slowly into view.
“Prince Theodore has arrived.”
The grand carriage passed Christopher’s, then pulled over gently to the roadside.
All stared on in shock and confusion as Theodore stepped down from the carriage with a calm, expressionless face.
Everyone around bowed respectfully at once.
Christopher grew instantly tense. “Uncle Theodore…”
Theodore did not spare him a single glance, walking straight to Margaret. “I apologize for being late.”
“It’s just in time,” Margaret replied.
She followed him onto the carriage without hesitation,
Truth be told, I’d rather have a carriage all to myself.
But with Christopher lingering here, I can’t travel alone.
I’ll use Theodore’s presence to shake off Christopher’s pestering for good.
As she settled inside the carriage, Theodore prepared to board as well when Christopher’s voice stopped him. “Uncle Theodore, why have you come all this way to fetch her personally?”
