Chapter 207 Pull Her Hand Free

Christopher’s tone was flat and distant, and for the first time, Stella felt the cold edge of his indifference.
Men really do judge solely by looks.
If she’d known this would happen, she should have gone straight to Life Preserve Pavilion last night instead of seeking out Theodore.
How could she show her face at the palace looking like this today?
Lost in her troubled thoughts, the three of them walked slowly toward the main gate.
On the way, they ran straight into Jasper.
Jasper spoke coldly the moment he saw her. “Stella, do you really intend to enter the palace looking like this?”
Stella looked instantly displeased. “What kind of question is that, Jasper? Do you think I’ll bring shame to our family?”
Jasper shook his head. He was also heading to the palace with Timothy that day, invited along on purpose.
He quickened his pace to catch up with Margaret ahead. The moment he laid eyes on her, he was stunned. ‘Margaret, you’ve suddenly grown so slim.”
Margaret took a soft breath. “I lost weight little by little. You didn’t notice before because I always wore thick, loose clothes.”
Jasper fell quiet for a moment.
Upon closer look, Margaret’s facial features hadn’t changed much at all–she only looked a little slimmer than before.
The real difference lay in her figure and graceful bearing.
‘No wonder people say fine clothes make the person,” Jasper said. “I barely recognize you dressed like this today,”
They walked out the estate gate as he spoke. “You haven’t arranged a carriage yet, have you? Ride with
me…”
‘She’s riding with me. Christopher’s voice rang out from behind them before Jasper could finish.
He strode forward in long strides, pushing Stella aside without a second thought.
Amid everyone’s stunned stares, he grabbed Margaret’s arm firmly. “We agreed yesterday I’d take you to the palace today.”
Margaret struggled to pull her arm free. “There’s no need to trouble you, Crown Prince Christopher. I…”
“We had an understanding, didn’t we?” Christopher cut her off, refusing to listen to her refusal, and tried to

lead her toward his carriage.

She pulled her arm away firmly. “I never agreed to anything with you. Your carriage is built for two. You ought to take Stella with you.”
“Then you shall sit beside me.” Christopher’s tone left no room for argument.
Stella, who’d just caught up, froze on the spot.
Tears welled up and spilled down her cheeks at once. “Crown Prince Christopher, what are you saying? Are you just going to leave me behind?”
Faced with Stella’s tears, Christopher hesitated slightly. “My carriage is spacious enough. The three of us can squeeze in together.”
Stella bit her lower lip. “All this happened to me because someone harmed me on purpose. How can you not stand up for me, and instead…“.
“I’ve told you not to bring up baseless claims without proof,” Christopher said coldly, his gaze fixed steadily on Margaret the whole time. “Margaret, come ride with me.”
Stella frowned. “Crown Prince Christopher…”
Growing irritated by the back–and–forth, Christopher walked over and guided Stella into the carriage. “Wait quietly inside.”
Leaving Stella sitting rigid and stunned, he turned back to Margaret once more.
He reached out to take her hand again, but Margaret tucked both hands behind her back at once. “Please show me some respect, Crown Prince Christopher. We’re out in public–don’t touch me casually.”
‘I’m your betrothed. Why shouldn’t I?” Christopher’s voice was urgent and tight.
He could feel passersby glancing their way now and then, his face flushing with embarrassment.
He’d wanted Margaret to ride with him from the very start, and his longing had only grown stronger now.
If I’m rejected by her in front of so many people, I’ll lose all dignity.
