Chapter 226 Restore Everything I’ve Lost

Only after Jasper and Timothy walked far away did Nadia dare rush to Stella’s side. “Please stop shouting. If they hear you, things will only get worse.”
“What else could go wrong now?” Stella broke down completely, clutching her head and wailing. “I’ve lost all my dignity and ruined my reputation forever. All the years I spent building my name have been destroyed by that hateful Margaret.
‘I made such a fool of myself at the royal banquet. King Spencer will never look favorably on me, and Queen Norma’s opinion of me is ruined, too. Even Crown Prince Christopher won’t so much as glance my way now.
“Everyone saw me bald today. They must be mocking me behind my back. Crown Prince Christopher cares deeply about his pride. Now that I’m swollen and bald, he’ll surely turn his heart elsewhere. My life is ruined. Everything has been destroyed by that detestable girl.”
Seeing her so distraught, Nadia grew anxious. She thought for a moment and said softly, “I heard Crown Prince Christopher fell after the banquet ended, and now he walks with a limp. He left the palace, dragging his injured leg in full view of everyone, and countless courtiers are whispering that his old leg injury has flared up again and may leave him crippled once more. It’s not that he refuses to come see you–he’s suffering himself greatly.”
At these words, Stella’s emotions finally calmed a little.
She stared at Nadia in disbelief. “Is what you say true?”
Nadia nodded quickly. “Everyone was talking about it all the way back. It’s absolutely true. I even stopped a servant to ask for confirmation.”
“Will he become lame again?” Stella asked anxiously.
‘I can’t be certain.” Nadia shook her head. “That’s just what the rumors say. With so much gossip spreading through the palace, no one knows the full truth.”
She bit her lip and sighed heavily, “Truly, misfortunes never come singly. Let us pray that Crown Prince Christopher recovers well and does not end up crippled again. If he does marry you afterward, your life will be filled with hardship.”
Stella narrowed her eyes dangerously. “Hardship is an understatement.
“If he is crippled once more, he will lose his place as Crown Prince for certain. King Spencer is still in his prime—he will never allow a lame heir to rule the realm, nor will the court officials accept it.”
“That is true,” Nadia agreed. “But we cannot be sure of his condition yet. No one knows if he only suffered a minor fall or if his old injury has worsened again. Even if his leg has deteriorated, he would never speak of it openly. All these are just idle rumors among the palace folk.”
She sighed and urged gently, “You must pull yourself together. One misfortune follows another now, and you have countless hardships ahead. You have no time to wallow in sorrow. You must gather your strength and find a way to get through these troubles one by one.”

“You speak of troubles, but how am I supposed to get through them?” Stella ground out through gritted
teeth.
She had calmed down somewhat, yet her mood remained utterly bleak.
Nadia helped Stella sit back on the bed, thought long and carefully, then lowered her voice. “Have you ever considered taking a different path for your future?”
Stella frowned. “What do you mean?”
Nadia explained, “You said it yourself–if Crown Prince Christopher becomes crippled, he will lose his claim to the throne for sure. On top of that, he saw you bald and swollen at the banquet. He values his pride above all else, and his attitude toward you has already cooled greatly since you began to look this
way.
