Rejected by the Crown Prince? I Married His Uncle
Chapter 242 Such a Lethal Toxin
Everyone in this world is a stranger to me.
I have no power or influence of my own.
I have almost no friends I can truly trust.
There’s no one beside me who can save my life when danger strikes.

Though she was the young lady of the Prime Minister’s Estate, she could not protect a single person within
its walls.
Her so–called family was nothing more than hollow presences around her.
Worse still, Christopher had gone to extreme lengths to get what he wanted this time.
Theodore was still away attending someone’s birthday celebration.
Life Preserve Pavilion was a long distance away from where she stood.
Sweet Breeze Dining.
A thought suddenly crossed her mind–she still had a place she could go.
Unable to find the dropped antidote pill, she stumbled unsteadily toward Sweet Breeze Dining.
Thank goodness, I still have Lisa and Julie.
I can stay with them for the night.
I’ll rest and regain my strength before dealing with anything tomorrow.
Her vision grew blurrier by the second.
Half–conscious and disoriented, she saw a large group of riders marching down the main road ahead.
It was as if her eyes were playing tricks on her, showing double images.
No ordinary procession could stretch on endlessly like that,
Her sight faded into a hazy fog, and the troop of riders appeared right in front of her before she knew it.
Through the blur, she could make out Theodore’s figure.
He ran toward her as fast as he could, his face etched with raw worry.
In her last flicker of consciousness, she heard Theodore’s voice ring out clearly, “I’m so sorry I’m late.”
Strong wine burned through Margaret’s body, leaving her overheated and restless. The powerful effect of the enchanting incense only made it worse. Even as she slipped into unconsciousness, her brows stayed tightly furrowed in pain.

She felt herself being lifted clean off the ground, then settled into a warm embrace.
The man holding her also carried a burning heat in his body.
He carried her carefully over to his carriage.
The carriage swayed violently as it moved.
The rough motion twisted her stomach into knots, and she leaned over the side to vomit heavily.

A bitter, foul stench filled her nose, yet her mind remained trapped in a dazed fog, unable to fully wake up.
She drifted in and out of awareness, feeling herself being carried once again.
Moments later, she was laid down on a soft, warm bed.
Someone checked her pulse, while another held water to her lips to make her drink.
She was burning up all over.
Her whole body felt scalding hot to the touch.
Sharp, throbbing pain shot through her chest again and again, making it nearly impossible for her to breathe.
Inside the royal bedchamber of the Ducal Palace, Theodore stood rigid beside the bed, his face dark with rage. He stared down at Margaret, who lay writhing in agony, and anger boiled fiercely inside him.
A physician said in a grave, worried tone, “Prince Theodore, Ms. Campbell’s condition is critical. She drank far too much wine already, and she’s been stricken with enchanting incense. Worse still, a deadly poison has spread deep into her vital organs. I fear she is already beyond our power to save.”
Theodore snapped, “Megan, I told you to keep her from leaving. Why did you let her go?”
Megan dropped to one knee, trembling all over with fear. “I tried to stop her, Your Highness. But she said you would never return for dinner when you went to another’s birthday feast, and so she chose to head out on her own.”
Theodore pressed on sharply. “Then how did she end up exposed to enchanting incense? Where is Baxter?”
Cyan quickly knelt down on one knee as well, his head bowed respectfully. “Prince Theodore, Baxter has been severely injured. He says Crown Prince Christopher hid himself inside Ms. Campbell’s private chamber, intending to force himself upon her. Tonight is the Lantern Fair, and the whole town is alive with crowds and celebration. Mr. Jasper Campbell and Ms. Stella Campbell both left the estate to join the fun, and Mr. Timothy Campbell was away on urgent business as well. Prime Minister’s Estate was left quiet and empty. On top of that, Ms. Campbell’s quarters are tucked away in a remote corner–that is how Christopher managed to act so recklessly.”
Theodore seethed with wrath. “Christopher has lost his mind entirely.”
He turned to storm out of the chamber, but Margaret, on the bed, suddenly convulsed and vomited violently once more.
Fresh blood gushed from her mouth in a torrent, staining most of her face in an înstant. The red liquid
