Chapter 323 More to This
Her gown was torn open right there and then.
Faushed
In the next brutal moment, she was dragged away–truly dragged–her heels scraping along the ground as the guards seized her ankles and hauled her outside, ignoring her agonized struggles.
The spectacle was so grim, so violently raw, that everyone across the Prime Minister’s Estate dropped to their knees, too terrified to utter a word.
This was Prince Theodore’s order.
Who would dare protest?
Not long after Stella had been dragged off, Jasper hurriedly returned.
Perhaps aware that Theodore intended to act against her, Jasper rushed straight to him and knelt at his feet.
“Your Highness, about Stella-”
“If you’re here to plead for her, don’t blame me for sentencing you alongside her!” Theodore cut him off, his tone icy and final.
Undeterred, Jasper bowed his head deeply until his forehead touched the floor with a solid thud.
“Have mercy, Your Highness! I know Stella has committed a grave offense. But she wasn’t in her right mind -she was distraught. Margaret fell from the cliff trying to save her. It was Margaret’s own life Stella owes! Please, in Margaret’s memory, spare her. At the very least, grant her a dignified end…”
“Guards!” Theodore’s voice sliced through the plea. “Take him away. Thirty strikes with the rod.”
Before Jasper could react, guards seized his arms and hauled him backward.
His eyes widened in shock, but even as they pulled him away, he kept shouting, “Your Highness, calm your anger! I beg you-”
“If he speaks another word in Stella’s defense, keep striking him until he falls silent!”
“Yes, Your Highness!”
Soon, Jasper’s protests turned to cries of pain, each lash echoing through the courtyard.
Theodore remained unmoved, his expression stone.
Only when a guard rushed to his side, breathless with urgency, did he stir. “Your Highness, bad news! Ms. Hickman heard of your departure and… she threw herself into the pond again.”
“Then let her die! I’ve shown her more mercy than she deserves!” Theodore roared, fury erupting from
him.
The guard recoiled at the outburst and hastily retreated.

Chapter 323 More to This
Finched
Standing nearby, Baxter clenched his jaw, his voice tight with bitterness. “Calling herself a general’s offspring, acting all rough and straightforward—yet she’s more cunning than any scheming lady. She got what she wanted, she stole you away, and now she keeps using General Randall’s funeral as an excuse to stir up trouble. It’s beyond contempt.”
Theodore shot him a venomous glare. “Are you just going to stand there?”
“I’ll resume the search at once, Your Highness.” Baxter lowered his head and withdrew.
Despite his rage, Theodore clung to a thread of reason.
Margaret is clever. There’s no way she’d let herself fall from a cliff just to save Stella.
Something’s off. There has to be more to this.
“Your Highness, it’s all false… isn’t it? None of this is real. Ms. Campbell… can’t truly be gone. Tell me they are lying, Your Highness. Please… tell me they are lying.” A small, trembling voice came from the edge of the courtyard.
Winter had appeared unnoticed, her face streaked with tears.
She took one faltering step after another forward.
She had been on her way home, but a terrible nightmare–a vision of Margaret coming to harm–had driven her to turn back.
The first news that greeted her was of an assassination/attempt on Margaret.
Arriving at the estate, she then heard about Stella threatening to leap from a cliff.
None of that seemed to matter as long as Margaret was safe.
But now, everyone was whispering that the one who had fallen was Margaret.
And the scene before her confirmed the worst: Theodore storming into the estate, having Timothy beaten and Stella dragged off.
Every piece of it screamed a truth she couldn’t bear.
