Chapter 41 That Looked Painful

Margaret said slowly, “Don’t worry, Crown Prince Christopher. Even if I wanted to die, I wouldn’t set foot in your Crown Prince’s Estate.”
“You- Christopher was furious.
He wanted to yell back, but when he saw Margaret’s face–completely unbothered–something inside him just felt stuck.
So he took a deep breath, turned, and walked away with Stella in his arms. “Fine. Just don’t come crying later.”
No sooner had he spoken than a loud crash echoed through the hall. He tripped and fell flat on the ground.
Stella, whom he had been carrying, let out a horrible scream.
By the time anyone reacted, Stella had already been thrown several feet away.
“Crown Prince Christopher!”
“Stella!”
People shouted from all directions. Several guards rushed forward to help Christopher up.
Jasper, meanwhile, ran straight out the door.
There were steps outside the main hall. Stella had rolled all the way down them. Her forehead was scraped
raw.
She was crying hysterically, clutching her head. “It hurts–it hurts so bad…”
Jasper scrambled to help her up, “Stella, are you okay? Let me look at your head—”
Christopher didn’t even think about himself. The moment he got up, he ran down the steps. “Stella! How are you? I’m sorry I dropped you. Does it hurt?”
His face was full of concern. But after just a few steps, his right leg suddenly went numb. Then his left leg twisted—and he fell again.
“Stella! Crown Prince Christopher!” Jasper shouted.
The three of them were a tangled mess on the ground. No one could tell who was screaming at whom. Stella’s hair ornaments were scattered everywhere. She scrambled to pick them up.
But Jasper held onto her other arm tightly. “Are you alright, Stella? Why is your hand so red? Did you hurt it in the fall?”
Christopher’s head was spinning. He crawled over and started stroking Stella’s hair. “I’m sorry, Stella–1 was in such a rush. Did I bump your head? Does it hurt? I’ll take you to the royal doctor right now.”

But as his fingers moved through her hair, they came away with a large clump of it.
Christopher stared at the hair in his hand, completely shocked. Before he could process what had happened, Stella started screaming.
Her face twisted with rage. Her voice was almost torn.
She scrambled to her feet, not waiting for anyone to react. “Nadia! Nadia!”
The scene was pure chaos.
Nadia snapped out of it and ran straight to Stella. She grabbed her arm and rushed her away.
Stella kept her head down, one hand covering the bald patch on her scalp. “Go, quickly!”
She practically fled.
In the blink of an eye, she and Nadia had disappeared.
Jasper finally came to his senses. “What are you all standing around for?” he shouted. “Go find a doctor! Get a doctor for Stella–now!”
Christopher still hadn’t moved. He stared at the hair in his hand. His face was a mess of emotions.
Did I just imagine that?
I barely touched her, and her hair fell out?
Is that really her hair?
“Crown Prince Christopher,” Jasper said quickly. “Stella’s head is bleeding. She must have hit it very hard in the fall–that’s why so much hair came out. Please don’t worry about it. I’ll go check on her now.”
Then Jasper took off.
Christopher was left alone in the courtyard.
Even when someone helped him up, he still looked dazed.
Margaret pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh. She stood off to the side, watching.
