Chapter 52 I Overthought It
But as nice as the hot spring was, it wasn’t exactly appropriate for a man and a woman to be alone in there together.
Once she felt her body had returned to normal, Margaret hurried to the edge and climbed out, step by
step.
Her clothes were soaked through, clinging to her skin.
With every step, she could clearly feel her belly jiggle,
She looked down at her belly and sighed to herself.
What was I even thinking?
With a body this terrible, no other man would give me a second look.
Let alone the famous Prince Theodore.
The fact that he could carry me over his shoulder with one arm was already impressive enough.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Theodore’s cold voice came from behind her.
Margaret turned her head. “I’m going outside to change. The maids in your house-”
Theodore said, “Their clothes won’t fit you.”
His blunt words made Margaret’s heart sink.
Knew he’d say that…
She smiled, “That’s fine. I’ll just borrow one of yours.”
Theodore fell silent.
She really makes herself at home.
In the end, Margaret did end up wearing Theodore’s clothes.
And Theodore, after washing off the smell of the medicine, changed into a fresh set as well.
When the two of them walked out of the bedchamber together, everyone’s eyes changed.
Cyan stared at Margaret for a long time, dead serious. Once he was sure she was wearing Theodore’s clothes, he stood there, completely speechless.
Even these rants outside lowered their heads, their hearts full of shock.
Margaret could tell something was off from the way they were looking at her. Suddenly, she felt awkward.
Should I explain myself?

But… they’re all just servants. Probably not worth explaining to.
She thought for a moment, then said, a little embarrassed, “Let’s leave it at that for today. I’ll come back
tomorrow.”
She turned to leave.
But Cyan was the one who stopped her. “Ms. Campbell, please wait.”
Margaret looked back, confused. “Is there something else?”
Cyan explained, “It’s about your prescription. There’s one ingredient we don’t have in the manor. I was wondering where we might find it?”
Margaret blinked. “Don’t you have a huge apothecary? Shouldn’t it have everything?”
Cyan said, “It has almost everything. Just missing one thing.”
He glanced carefully at Theodore first, then said, “The gallbladder of the lunara snake…”
Margaret nodded. “Oh, right. That prescription does need a fresh snake gallbladder. But old ones work, too–they’re just less effective.”
Cyan looked a little awkward. “The thing is… I’ve never heard of the lunara snake, let alone seen one. And its gallbladder? Not a chance.”
Margaret blinked.
If he’s never even seen one, that’s a real problem.
She glanced at Theodore, who said nothing–so clearly, he didn’t know the snake either.
Margaret said, “That snake is actually pretty easy to find. They like dark, damp places. You can try going to areas with lots of snakes–you might get lucky. I can describe what it looks like..”
But Cyan interrupted, “I know where the snakes gather. I also know where the dark, damp places are. But since this is for Prince Theodore, I want to find the key ingredient as fast as possible. So, Ms. Campbell, would you be willing to come with me? I’m sure with you there, we’ll find the lunara snake much sooner.”
Margaret’s lips twitched.
So that’s what he was after.
She looked up at the sky–it was still early. Finally, she nodded. “Alright, fine,”
Besides, he dul pay me a fortune yesterday. Even if I had to search for snakes day and night to help him, I’d do it.
You
nry, you do the job.
But then Theodore spoke up. “I’m coming with you.”
Cyan immediately said, “Prince Theodore, your body hasn’t fully recovered. Please don’t go trekking

through the wilderness.”

Theodore ignored him. He simply walked off. “Prepare the carriage. Plain clothes. We leave from the back
gate.”
The moment the words left his mouth, everyone around them sprang into action.
Within just a few minutes, Margaret found herself bundled into the carriage.
They left from the back gate–still in that same ordinary carriage. Only this time, Cyan was the driver.
And they hadn’t brought any other servants along. That made Margaret a little worried. “I mean, the lunara snake is pretty easy to catch, but it’s still poisonous. And when we get there, we might have to search all over the mountain. Wouldn’t it be easier to bring more people?”
Theodore sat beside her with his eyes closed, resting. “There are shadow guards.”
Margaret fell silent.
Right. I overthought it.
Along the way, Margaret kept describing the snake to Theodore–what it looked like, how to spot it. Only after she was sure both he and Cyan understood did she finally close her eyes to rest,
She wasn’t sure how long had passed. She was starting to feel hungry when the carriage finally stopped at the foot of a mountain.
The moment they stepped out, Cyan said, “It’s this mountain. Poisonous snakes live here all year round. The townsfolk rarely come here, but snake catchers do go up from time to time. Ms. Campbell, you can come up with me. Or if you’re scared, you can wait here at the bottom.”
