With that, he stepped forward to walk ahead. “Stella gave me the wrong medicine last time, and my arm never fully healed from the injury. I have some free time today, so I’m coming to get more myself. I also have a few things I wish to talk to her about.”

Jasper hung his head and followed closely behind. “Are you referring to…”

“The Silver Elixir. I assume Stella still has some on hand?” Christopher asked.

Understanding washed over Jasper at once. “She does. Ever since she returned from the skilled doctor’s cottage, she has kept and tended to all kinds of medical potions and remedies in her free time. The Silver Elixir is seen as extremely rare by most people, yet she keeps a full bottle for herself. On top of that, she owns a vast collection of rare healing herbs. Whatever you may need, Stella will surely have it ready.”

A proud look crossed Christopher’s face. “Stella is the only one who brings me honor. No wonder the leaders of the Life Preserve Pavilion invited her personally.”

Jasper smiled, “That is true. I still have not found the time to take Stella to meet Mr. Kingston.”

The two men drew near Rosethorne Court as they spoke.

Christopher walked to the front and continued, “I have full faith in Stella’s skill. My own servants are far too careless–they even messed up a simple errand to fetch medicine. My arm throbs with constant pain now. I really need some Silver Elixir to neutralize the remaining poison.”

They stepped into Rosethorne Court moments later.

Stella had clearly been waiting for their arrival. She hurried forward to greet them the second they appeared.

She smiled gently and gestured toward the stone table in the yard. “Jasper, Crown Prince Christopher, welcome. I had Nadia brew a fresh pot of honey water just for you. Please sit and try these pastries I made with my own hands.” She tugged Jasper’s arm warmly and pulled him over to take a seat.

The pastries on the table were delicate and finely made, yet Christopher paid them no mind. He spoke in a hurried tone. “Stella, do you have any more Silver Elixir? Fetch me one at once.”

Stella froze in surprise. “What troubles you, Crown Prince Christopher? You only took a dose not long ago…”

“That one had no effect at all. The servants must have brought the wrong potion back then.” Christopher frowned sharply. “My arm is plagued by sharp, recurring pain. The royal doctors all agree that leftover poison is to blame for my slow recovery. One single pill was never enough to cleanse my body fully. Please bring me another–it will calm the pain first.”

He sat down beside Jasper after finishing his words.

Jasper looked at him with clear concern. “May we see your wound, Crown Prince Christopher?”

Christopher did not refuse. He rolled his sleeve all the way up without hesitation.

White bandages were wrapped tightly around his arm, and faint spots of fresh blood seeped through the fabric. The wound had plainly refused to scab and heal.

Jasper’s expression filled with shock. “I never imagined such a small cut would torment you for so long. Stella, please bring the medicine quickly.”

Stella nodded and hurried back into her chamber to retrieve another Silver Elixir.

I handed his guard that medicine with my own hands last time. There is no way it was mixed up or swapped out.

If that dose failed to help his condition, what will happen if he takes another now?

Doubt swirled heavily in her mind, yet Christopher already snatched the pill and swallowed it in a rush.

A false sense of relief washed over him, and he settled back in his seat at ease.

“Thank goodness for Stella’s help.” Christopher let out a slow breath. “Even the royal doctors in the palace cannot cure this lingering poison. I would never have endured this long if you had not acted so quickly that day.”

Stella sat down shyly at his side. “Do not speak so highly of me, Crown Prince Christopher. I am only glad I could be of help to you.”

Christopher sighed with frustration, “You are so kind and sensible, yet Margaret continues to slander you day after day. She even claimed you plotted to kill her just now–her disrespect is beyond reason. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult your days must be, living under her constant hostility.”

Stella bowed her head quietly, her expression soft and innocent.

Jasper cut in quickly to comfort her. “You do not need to worry, Crown Prince Christopher. I will never let anyone mistreat Stella–and that includes Margaret.”

Christopher nodded in quiet relief. “I rest easier knowing you are here to watch over her.”

He paused for a moment before adding, “Once Stella marries me, I will protect her with my own power.”

A deep blush spread across Stella’s cheeks.

Christopher, however, shifted awkwardly in his seat.

Norma’s words kept echoing in his head.

He came here today with a heavy secret to tell them.

But looking at this gentle, fragile girl in front of him, he could not bring himself to say he could only offer her the title of Royal Consort.
