CHAPTER 103 PART 2

Marcus and Quinn’s Mansion – 3:52 AM

Marcus approached his home with dragon senses on high alert. Thirteen Shadow Warriors had arrived in Grayson City, fifty-million-dollar bounties on his and Aaron’s heads. Maintaining a low profile was essential until—

The front door opened before he could use his key. A middle-aged woman he’d never seen before stood there holding a comforter, her expression immediately suspicious.

“Who are you?” she demanded. “What are you doing here at this hour?”

Marcus’s dragon aura flickered with irritation. “I live here. Who are you?”

“Liar!” The woman-later identified as Emeric Ridge, Karen’s sister-grabbed Marcus’s arm. “This is the Hartford family’s property! You’re trying to rob the place! KAREN! KAREN, THERE’S A BURGLAR!”

Karen Ridge rushed out from the living room, her face showing brief embarrassment before transforming into vindictive satisfaction. “Oh, that’s just Marcus. Quinn’s… husband.”

The pause before “husband” carried maximum contempt.

“This is your son-in-law?” Emeric looked Marcus up and down with undisguised disgust. “This is what a Sacred Saintess lowered herself to marry? Karen, I thought you were exaggerating about how worthless he was, but-”

“I wasn’t,” Karen interrupted smugly. “Three years of contributing nothing while my daughter supported him. It’s pathetic.”

Marcus’s jaw clenched, but he forced his dragon aura to remain suppressed. His eyes scanned the house, noting details that made his blood boil-shoes scattered in the entryway, multiple coats on the rack, the distinct sound of his television playing in the living room.

“How many people are here?” Marcus asked quietly.

“Just family,” Karen said with false innocence. “Wesley, Tessa, Emeric, her son Federico. They needed a place to stay for a few days. Since you have this enormous house-”

“That you weren’t invited into,” Marcus finished coldly.

“We’re FAMILY,” Karen snapped. “Quinn agreed—”

“Where is Quinn now?”

“At the office. Working late because someone has to actually earn money in this household.”

Marcus walked past them toward his bedroom, his dragon senses detecting something that made his fury spike dangerously. Someone was in his room. Using his computer.

His computer. Where confidential information about Titan Group operations, Supervision Department contacts, and communication with the Ridge Family resided behind passwords he’d foolishly left unsecured because he’d thought his own home was safe,

“Marcus, wait!” Karen called after him, her voice carrying false warning. “Federico is using that room right now, maybe you should-”

Marcus kicked open his bedroom door.

The sight that greeted him would have been comical if it weren’t enraging. His king-sized bed was unmade,

sheets tangled and stained. Sunflower seed shells covered the floor in disgusting piles. Cigarette butts littered his nightstand. And at his desk sat a young man-early twenties, wearing a stained t-shirt and boxers, headphones blasting music loud enough to be audible across the room, cigarette dangling from his lips as he cursed at his video game.

On Marcus’s computer. His private, password-unprotected computer.

“Get. Up.” Marcus’s voice carried that inhuman resonance that made ordinary people’s survival instincts scream.

Federico Yarrow-Emeric’s spoiled son-didn’t even turn around. “Fuck off! I’m in the middle of a raid! Five more minutes!”

Marcus crossed the room in three strides, his dragon-enhanced strength grabbing Federico by the collar and hurling him away from the desk. The young man flew three feet through the air, crashed into the wall, and landed in a heap on his own disgusting pile of sunflower shells.

“What the FUCK!” Federico struggled to his feet, rage replacing his gaming focus. “Who the hell do you think—”

“That’s MY computer,” Marcus said quietly, his dragon eyes beginning to glow. “MY bedroom. MY house.”

“Oh, you’re the worthless son-in-law!” Federico’s laugh was ugly and cruel. “The kept man who married a Saintess way above his station! My mom told me about you-how you contribute nothing, how you live off Quinn’s money, how you’re just trash pretending to be worth something!”

Emeric Ridge rushed into the room, immediately moving to her son’s defense. “How DARE you assault Federico! He’s half your age! What kind of man attacks a boy?!”

“What kind of boy,” Marcus countered coldly, “trashes someone else’s bedroom and invades their privacy?”

“Privacy?” Emeric sneered. “In a house bought with my niece’s money? You have no privacy here! You have no rights! You’re just the worthless nobody she was stupid enough to marry!”

Federico, emboldened by his mother’s presence, stepped closer to Marcus with adolescent bravado. “Yeah! You’re nothing but a kept man! A parasite! Quinn Hartford is a Sacred Saintess divine bloodline wasted on garbage like you! She should divorce your worthless ass and marry someone actually worthy of ”

The bedroom door slammed open.

Quinn Hartford stood in the doorway, her Saintess aura blazing with golden fury that made the room’s lights flicker. Her cold indifference had completely shattered, replaced by righteous rage that carried divine weight.

She crossed the room in four steps and slapped Federico Yarrow across the face with Saintess-enhanced force.

The sound echoed like a gunshot. Federico spun completely around, crashed into the wall again, and slid down with a bloody nose and ringing ears.

“Repeat what you just said,” Quinn commanded, her voice carrying authority that made even Emeric freeze. “Go ahead. Call my husband worthless one more time.”

Federico, tears streaming from the pain, opened his mouth-“He IS worthless! He’s trash who-”

Quinn slapped him again. Harder. Federico collapsed completely, sobbing and holding his face.

“I gave you ALL explicit instructions,” Quinn said, her Saintess aura pulsing with each word. “Do not enter Marcus’s room. Do not touch his things. Do not disrespect him in his own house. And what did you do?”

“Quinn, calm down!” Karen Ridge rushed in, her voice sharp. “Federico is just a boy! He didn’t mean—”
