CHAPTER 150 PART 2

“Of course you don’t.” Allen’s smile was thin and cruel. “Just like you don’t know that Cesar Pendleton is finished in this city. Just like you don’t know that anyone associated with him is also finished. Just like you don’t know that standing here right now makes you all accomplices to a man who’s already been marked for destruction.”

Derek’s face went from pale to gray. “We didn’t… we weren’t….”

“Shut up.” Allen finally turned his full attention to Marcus, and his entire demeanor changed.

He bowed. Not deeply, but unmistakably—a gesture of respect from a man who rarely showed deference to

anyone.

“Mr. Steel. I apologize for the disturbance. These fools didn’t understand who they were dealing with.”

The crowd collectively gasped. Elize’s jaw dropped. Simeon grabbed her arm so hard it would leave bruises.

Derek looked like he might vomit. “Mr. Mitchell… you’re bowing to him?”

Allen’s head snapped toward Derek, his expression murderous. “Did I stutter? This is Marcus Steel. He’s a personal guest of Miguel Abbott himself. He carries a supreme card. And you you pathetic, small-time enforcer -you brought weapons and thugs to threaten him?”

“I didn’t know!” Derek’s voice cracked. “Nobody told me!”

“Ignorance isn’t an excuse.” Allen gestured to his men. “Confiscate their weapons. All of them. And Derek- you’re banned from Pearl on the Water for life. If I see you within two blocks of this establishment, I’ll have you arrested for trespassing.”

“But Carl-”

“Carl Davis isn’t my problem anymore. He’s yours.” Allen’s cold smile returned. “And from what I understand, he just picked a fight with the wrong man. That’s his funeral to arrange, not mine.”

Marcus had stood silently throughout Allen’s arrival, his dragon aura calm but watchful. Now he spoke quietly. ” You didn’t have to do that.”

“Yes, I did.” Allen’s respect was genuine. “Mr. Abbott gave specific orders. You’re to be treated as his equal. Anyone who disrespects you disrespects him. And I don’t let people disrespect my boss.”

“Equal?” Brandon Chen’s voice was barely a whisper. “Who the hell is this guy?”

Allen heard him and turned, his expression making Brandon wish he’d stayed silent. “That’s Marcus Steel. And that’s all you need to know. Except for this-stay away from him. Don’t talk to him. Don’t look at him. Don’t even think about him. Because if you cause him any more trouble, you’ll answer to me. And trust me, you don’t want that.”

The message was crystal clear. The crowd began dispersing rapidly, people practically running to get away from the situation.

Derek’s men loaded Carl into their vehicles with even more urgency now, desperate to leave before Allen changed his mind about letting them go at all.

As Derek climbed into his own SUV, he looked back at Marcus one final time. The man who’d destroyed his cousins, shattered his crew’s confidence, and revealed the vast gulf between their worlds stood perfectly still, utterly unbothered by the chaos around him.

Derek had thought he understood power. Had thought thirty armed men made him formidable.

He’d been so, so wrong.

“Who are you?” Derek whispered, though Marcus was too far away to hear.

The convoy pulled away, leaving behind broken pride, shattered reputations, and the growing legend of the man who’d brought the Davis family to its knees without breaking a sweat.

Allen turned back to Marcus. “Sir, if you’d like to return to the penthouse, I can arrange-”

“Not yet,” Marcus interrupted. “I have more business to handle today.”

“Of course.” Allen bowed again. “My men will remain in the area for your protection.”

“That won’t be necessary.”

“Mr. Abbott insisted,” Allen said firmly. “With respect, sir, your safety is my responsibility while you’re in this district. Please allow me to do my job.”

Marcus studied him for a moment, then nodded slightly. “Fine. But they keep their distance.”

“Understood.” Allen gestured to his team, who immediately began repositioning to form a discreet perimeter.

As Allen walked away to coordinate his men, Marcus finally noticed Elizé still standing nearby, staring at him like he’d grown a second head.

“You’re still here?” he asked, his tone making it clear he’d rather she wasn’t
