Saintess's Worthless Husband Turned Dragon Commander novel Chapter 66

CHAPTER 66 PART 1

The abandoned warehouse at West Lake pier was silent except for the groans of captured Three Blade soldiers as Marcus and Aaron walked toward their waiting vehicles. Dawn was breaking over Grayson City, painting the sky in shades of orange and red.

“Maurice Yarrow won’t forget this,” Aaron said quietly as they reached his car. “Ten billion is a fortune, but it’s the humiliation that’ll eat at him. His invincible enforcer destroyed. His top people captured. His reputation damaged.”

“Let him remember,” Marcus replied calmly. “Maybe it’ll teach him not to accept contracts on people he doesn’t understand.”

“Still,” Aaron pressed, “you should be careful. Yarrow has resources beyond what we saw tonight. Connections. People who owe him favors. He’ll come at you eventually.”

Marcus’s dragon eyes glowed faintly in the pre-dawn light. “If he comes at me directly, I’ll handle it. But if he targets Quinn…” His voice went cold. “She’s a Sacred Saintess. Anyone who harms her will face my full wrath. And trust me-they won’t survive it.”

Aaron nodded, recognizing the absolute certainty in Marcus’s voice. “Speaking of Quinn, there’s something you should know. It’s been going viral for the past few hours.”

He pulled out his phone, showing Marcus a video that had already accumulated millions of views. The footage was clear, professionally edited-Quamaine Potter on his hands and knees, barking like a dog while Marcus stood over him. Riley Ridge crawling beside him. The crowd’s shocked reactions. Everything from Ocean Park.

But the editing was malicious. Clips were rearranged to make Marcus look like the aggressor. Audio was manipulated to remove context. Captions framed the incident as “Street Thug Assaults Young Master Potter and Forces Sacred Saintess’s Husband to Participate.”

“Someone filmed the whole thing,” Aaron said grimly. “Then edited it specifically to provoke the Potter family into retaliation. Look at the comments-they’re calling for your head. And worse-“he scrolled down, “–they explicitly mention Quinn’s status as a Sacred Saintess. Making it a public insult not just to Potter, but to her sacred standing.”

Marcus’s jaw clenched as he watched the video. “Who posted it?”

“Anonymous account, created yesterday, deleted this morning. But the video was downloaded and reshared thousands of times before we could trace it. Someone wanted this public. Wanted the Potter family humiliated and enraged enough to come after you.’

“Tighten Quinn’s security,” Marcus ordered. “The Potter family has reach and resources. If they decide to retaliate

“Already done,” Aaron assured him. “Six men rotating shifts. Eyes on your apartment, her workplace, every route she takes. She won’t be alone for a second.”

Marcus nodded, but unease settled in his chest. Someone was orchestrating events, pushing conflicts, trying to create situations where he’d be forced to-

His phone buzzed. A text from Quinn: Heading to work early. Taking a cab. See you tonight.

“I need to go,” Marcus said abruptly. “Something feels wrong.”

The next morning, Marcus was already in the car when Quinn came down, his Rolls-Royce idling at the curb.

“You didn’t have to-” Quinn started.

“Get in,” Marcus said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Quinn slid into the passenger seat, noting the tension in his posture. “What’s wrong?”

“Just a feeling,” Marcus replied, pulling into traffic. “Probably nothing.”

They’d made it three blocks when Marcus’s dragon senses screamed warning. His eyes flicked to the rearview mirror-a delivery truck accelerating behind them, its driver’s face slack, movements jerky like someone drugged or controlled.

“Hold on,” Marcus said calmly, his foot hitting the gas.

The Rolls-Royce surged forward with surprising speed. Behind them, the truck careened wildly, clipping a sedan before crashing into a parked car with a spectacular crunch.

“What was “Quinn started, her Saintess aura flaring defensively.

CHAPTER 66 PART 2

Another truck appeared from a side street, accelerating directly toward them, clearly intending to T-bone the passenger side-Quinn’s side.

Marcus’s hands blurred on the wheel, his dragon-enhanced reflexes making the Rolls-Royce dance through traffic with impossible precision. The truck missed by inches, instead slamming into a minivan that had been driving beside them.

The sound of crunching metal and shattering glass filled the air. The minivan spun, crashed into a lamppost, its horn blaring continuously.

Marcus pulled over immediately, his phone already dialing. “Aaron. Two assassination attempts. Both staged to look like drunk drivers. Both targeted the passenger side specifically.”

Quinn sat frozen, her Saintess senses detecting the malice, the deliberate intent behind what should have been random accidents. Her hands shook.

Marcus reached over, taking her hand gently. His dragon aura wrapped around her-invisible to normal sight but comforting to her divine senses-a protective barrier of ancient power.

“You’re safe,” he said quietly. “I won’t let anyone hurt you.”

Black SUVS appeared from seemingly nowhere-Aaron’s security teams, pre-positioned throughout the city. Men in dark suits emerged, surrounding the crashed trucks, dragging the “drunk” drivers from their vehicles.

One driver tried to swallow something-probably a poison pill. A security guard caught his jaw, forced it open, extracted a capsule.

“Get them to the warehouse,” Marcus ordered one of Aaron’s men who’d approached his window. “I want answers by noon. Who hired them. Who planned this. Everything.”

The man nodded and disappeared.

Marcus looked at Quinn, whose face had gone pale. “This wasn’t an accident.”

“I know,” she whispered. “My senses… I felt the killing intent. Someone wants us dead.”

“Wants you dead,” Marcus corrected grimly. “Both trucks aimed for the passenger side. This was about making it look like a tragic accident while specifically targeting a Sacred Saintess.’

“The Potter family?” Quinn asked.
