Chapter 83

Lucian’s POV

016

I woke up with a splitting headache, the pain so intense it seemed to throb with my every heartbeat. As I groaned, the memories of the night before came rushing back, and a terrible realisation struck me had to have been wolfsbane if our drinks.

That was the only reason why we would all wake up like this, heads pounding and memories foggy. Shaking off the pain as best as I could, I nudged Clay and Maxwell awake. They stirred, groggy and confused, but eventually managed to sit up, their faces mirroring my own discomfort.

Needing relief, I headed to my room for painkillers, but as soon as I entered, something felt off. The room was empty, the bed undisturbed. Scarlett’s scent, usually lingering softly in the air, was absent. My stomach twisted. Had she not slept here last night? Anxiety prickled at the edges of my mind as I left my room and checked both Clay’s and Maxwell’s rooms, hoping she’d simply ended up there. But she wasn’t there either. A cold dread began to creep in.

“Where is Scarlett?” Clay’s voice was tight with concern as he looked at me, and I felt my chest tighten, unable to respond.

“I believe we were drugged last night,” I managed, barely able to keep the panic from my voice. “We need to find her-now.” Fear clawed at me, and I rushed out, desperately searching for any trace of her. It was then that I caught her scent in the hallway, faint but distinct. My heart pounded as I followed it, each step faster than the last, until it led me to her old room. I hadn’t fixed the lock on the door yet, so I pushed it open and stepped inside.

What I saw shattered me.

Scarlett lay on the bed, still asleep, but beside her was Gregory, lying naked. The sight was like a punch to the gut, stealing the air from my lungs. Rage and heartbreak collided, burning through me with an intensity I hadn’t felt before.

I screamed, a primal sound that tore from my throat, fueled by betrayal and fury. I lunged forward, grabbing Gregory and jerking him upright. Before he could even comprehend what was happening, I slammed my fist into his face, all my anger pouring into the punch.

Scarlett stirred at the noise, her hand coming to her head as she slowly woke up. As she opened her eyes and took in the scene, her face twisted in horror. her own scream filling the room.

She scrambled back, clutching the sheets around her, utterly lost and disoriented. Clay and Maxwell burst into the room, their expressions turning grim as they took in the scene. Clay went straight to Scarlett, who clung to him, crying, her body wracked with sobs.

“What… what is happening?” she managed to choke out, her voice small and broken.

I looked at her, struggling to keep my anger in check. “Why didn’t you sleep in our room last night?” My voice shook with barely contained rage, my hands still gripping Gregory, who was groggy and utterly silent.

Scarlett looked at me, her face streaked with tears, as she tried to explain through her sobs. “I tried the lock, but it was closed. I couldn’t link you, and i was weak… so I came here. I… I just wanted to sleep.”

She looked devastated, and a part of me ached to comfort her, but my mind was swirling with questions, doubts, and hurt. She was naked. How had it

to this?

Maxwell’s voice was cold sharp with accusation as he turned to Gregory. “Is this how you repay us?” he asked, his eyes blazing with fury. Begury shook his head, looking just as shocked and lost as the rest of us, but i had no patience for his innocence. I couldn’t stand the thought of him near her, not like this.

Scarlett’s sobs filled the silence, her body shaking as she clung to Clay. I fought to contred mysell, to see through the haze of onges, but the ur of the in that bed seared into my mind, a wound that would take time to heal if it could ever leal at all

Übegurs a-words were like poison, sinking into the room, wach one twisting the knife of doubt deeper. “She told me it would be alright,” he claimed, his voice trembling. “She asked me to join her. I wouldn’t have dated otherwise ”

Fury ignited in me, and I punched hit without a second thought. “Liar”” I roared, but he shook his head, looking desperate.

“Please, tell them, Luna. Tell them you asked me to stay. You said you wanted to hear more about the West, that you were interested in visiting. When I tried to leave, you asked me to stay,” he continued, glancing at Scarlett with a look of wounded innocence, as though he were the victim.

Tears welled in Gregory’s eyes as he turned to me, his face pale with fear. “I didn’t want to, Alpha. I was reluctant. But I couldn’t resist her… Please, forgive me.” His voice broke into a whimper, and I looked at Scarlett, whose face had gone from shock to horror, shaking her head, tears streaming down her cheeks.

know what to believe. My mind was a whirlwind of anger, pain, and disbelief. Scarlett’s claim that our room was locked felt flimsy now, knowing that

open when we retired. She had selected the wine, and even Bianca had confirmed it. Every sign seemed to point in Gregory’s favour, as twisted

But the very idea of it tore at my heart. I couldn’t let Gregory’s words sway me-not in front of him, not in front of anyone.

what a devious plot, how will Scarlett her innocence. Gregory truly is an asshole, but I also have a feeling stasis was a part of the plan as well.
