Second Chance for the Barren Luna (Talia and Jason) novel Chapter 370

Talia’s POV

Solon and Leslie entered the square hand in hand. Solon walked slowly, but was able to walk without assistance. He already looked a lot better than he had only a few days ago. The moment the pack spotted him, they cheered so loudly it made my ears ring. I reached him first and hugged him softly, careful not to hurt him.

“You look like you’re almost back to yourself,” I said softly.

“I’m close. Thanks to Leslie,” he replied, glancing at her gratefully. She pretended not to hear, but her smile gave her away.

Soon, the other Alphas joined us. Colin, Landon, and a few others were drawn by the excitement. I got Solon’s attention and nodded toward the central platform. That was our signal.

He nodded, took Leslie’s hand again and stepped on to the platform.

The square fell silent, all eyes turned to him.

“I promise I won’t make another long speech,” Solon said, and people laughed. “You’ve heard enough from me already. I just want to say what this means. We fought hard for this victory, and we almost didn’t make it. The Rogue King is gone. Morgana is gone. And thanks to Leslie, anyone who’s bitten doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. There’s a cure, and it works. I’m proof.” He paused, letting everyone feel the relief that the mad rogue toxin would never take someone from them again.

“As your Alpha King, I’m grateful to all of you,” Solon went on. “We’ll remember what we lost, but we kept what matters most, together. To our fallen!”

“To our fallen!” the crowd responded with a roar.

“To the Alpha King Solon!” someone in the crowd yelled, and the crowd joined in.

Solon waited until the noise subsided, then pulled Leslie closer. Gently, he put his hand on her belly. "And another thing, Silverfang is going to have an heir!

This was followed by louder cheers. The sound echoed across the square, warriors drumming on tables, somebody chanting Silverfang until half the crowd was chanting along. Leslie laughed and cried at the same time, one hand on her belly, the other over her mouth. Solon grinned. Nolan and I were caught up in the moment and clapped and cheered with them.

“Alright,” Solon called out, raising his voice over the crowd, “I’m done talking. Go eat, have a drink, and dance as much as you want. That’s an order.” He stepped down from the platform with Leslie beside him.

“That was a good speech,” I told him when he reached us.

“You don’t know how long we worked on it. He was trying to talk for at least two hours,” Leslie said, pleased with herself.

Before I could answer, Colin and Landon shouldered through the crowd with a pack of young warriors in tow, all of them grinning and shoving each other forward, clearly eager for a challenge.

“Alpha King,” Colin called out, “these guys have been bragging all night that they could take you in a sparring match. Want to show them they’re wrong?”

“Absolutely not,” Leslie said before Solon could open his mouth. “He is not sparring anyone.”

The young warriors’ faces fell so fast that I took pity on them.
